What's the deal? First game jitters or is Billy G an inept wide receivers coach?

I'm a go with first game jitters. Some of those should have been caught. I will give my props to OU's dbs though. They were playing some pretty tight coverage. Plus, there was some big time youth out there receiving those passes.

They were catchable balls, but they all weren't on target...50/50 qb/rec fault

After pass blocking, dropped passes was my biggest concern. A lot of those drops were by freshmen and TE's with concrete block hands.

This was a problem last year, I hope they fix it.

Which ones were drops and which ones were just well-defended?

I'm gonna go with the obvious fact that other than RR, there was very little WR experience on the field.

The guys defending you in college are a bit tougher than the last defenders some of these dudes faced in a real game.

You're right. This has carried over from last year, which leads me to believe it's systemic and not as much an individual player issue.

Several of the drops were balls that just weren't very catchable. We'll be OK as Lee gets better at placing the ball where the receiver can make the easy catch.

Yeah, there really weren't that many "drops".

Gonzales makes up for being a shitty coach by not being able to recruit the state of Florida.

Did you watch the game? Does Billy G coach for both teams? Both teams had drops.

it's a bummer because we all thought he'd be a good WR coach coming from florida

but since he's been here the WR play has been pretty awful

That's the way I saw it. Lee threw some balls that were catchable but not in stride with the receiver. I hope Miles lets him throw a lot against NSU to get his timing down.

I'm not sure we have any business throwing the ball anywhere near Chase Clement's direction. The kid is a blocking TE.

I think some of the WR's need a few 100 reps with the tennis ball machine. Beckham has good hands but is listed at only 5'11"; i think hes gonna have a hard time catching passes with any DB on top of him like they were last night. Randle's height advantage was pretty evident on his TD catch. At this point Peterson, Randle and Beckham seem to be the go to guys. If Peterson was a bit more sure-handed I think he could be one of the better receiving TE's LSU has had in quite some time.

Mitch Joseph has much better hands than Clement and blocks better.
