If the Pac-12 decides to lash back at the SEC for expanding to 14 or 16 teams who are all the options

Possible
Texas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St.
Texas Tech
BYU
Nevada

Never
Boise St - junior college academics
UNLV - bad academics
New mexico - no TV market

Will not be BYU. PAC already said they are not adding any school with religious support.
Most likely it will be the 4 they wanted last year:
Longhorns
OU
OSU
Tech

If schools like Cal got into a snit over Baylor, there's no farking way they take BYU even if they are Utah's traditional rival.

Would the PAC allow the LHN to exist?

Pac-12 does care about academics.

The LHN would have to restructured/rebranded significantly, but I think they could/will make it work.

ETA:

IMO, they will add

UT
OU
OSU

and one of

Missouri
Kansas
Texas Tech

Texas-First choice
OU-2nd choice
OSU-Why?
Texas Tech-Never
BYU-Never. Hippies & Mormons? I don't think so.
Nevada-Strong possibility

Boise-Never. Community college academics
UNLV-ditto
New Mexico-Also strong. Albuquerque is a top-25 TV market (much bigger thean Lubbock and Stillwater)

Add to the list:
Hawaii-Long travel but good geographical fit.

If they decide they have to get to 16, they could have Nevada, Hawaii and New Mexico today.

hawaii has had football success, more potential than washington state

also why would anyone take nevada over UNLV... UNLV brings a destination market and big time basketball

they would if they were in the pac-10... plus if every few years you got to play in Sin City you best believe traveling fans might fill the place

May have to take them in a package deal with OU. Unless OSU can find another home on their own (they should try for the SEC -- could offer recruits something different from Big Brother OU, program is above-average but no threat to the power teams Alabama, LSU, Florida, would give Kentucky another solid basketball rival, good in baseball too).

Again, may have to take them in a package deal with Texas.

Agreed, this would expand geographic footprint.

NOT Strong in football. Basketball is their main sport but down from past glory days. I was unaware that Albuquerque was a top-25 media market. That by itself may warrant a look. Plus, being so close to tons of nuclear test facilities (Los Alamos, White Sands Missile Range), their academics can't be below average (you would think, anyway).

Why would Oklahoma join the PAC-12 when they'd be welcomed with open arms in the SEC?

They may be too tied to their rivalry with Texas to not join them in a conference (they were previously OOC, but if they join SEC then Texas probably doesn't schedule both them and A&M in OOC play and Texas may be forced by the Legislature to play A&M).

Also they may have to bring Okie State in a package deal, which the SEC doesn't seem to want (though Okie State would do well to move to the SEC by itself and get away from OU).

if it wasn't for t. boone, they'd be the second team in a one-team state like iowa, kansas...

So here's their chance to turn T. Boone's donations into something worthwhile.
