Jarrett Lee: 89 passes for every 1 Interception

That is what Lee did last season. If he attains that ratio this year and throws 300-350 passes, he will only have 3-4 INT's for the season.
I know that you can't look at it that way. If he starts and plays the whole game against great competition, he could have 3-4 INT's in one game. Heck, Matt Flynn had 3 INTs versus Bama in the FIRST HALF in 2007.
I'm just saying that there is evidence that he has improved in ALL areas of his game, the Interceptions included.
I'm actually more optimistic about the season now than I was before the bar fight, believe it or not.
I can't get the Tennessee game last year out of my head where JJ runs for the TD on the opening drive and then the offense does very little the rest of the game until Lee comes in at the end.

Lee - 54/89 573 Yds 60.7% 2TD 1INT
Wilson(ark) - 33/51 453 Yds 66.7% 4TD 3INT
Lee played in HARDLY any mop up duty, and came in off the bench in crucial times, like 4th and 20, and was used numerous times in game winning drives.
He was responsible for multiple LSU wins, including a game winning TD pass against Florida, and a game clinching first down against Alabama.
Wilson was primarily used in mop up duty, and had an EXTREMELY impressive performance when he came off the bench right before halftime, due to an injury to a starting QB.
He lost the only game in which he had real playing time.

Yeah, that was a game like Troy in 2008 until Lee caught on fire and won it for us by bringing LSU back from what, a 31-3 deficit?
Posted on 8/27/11 at 1:55 pm to AlaTiger
I can't get seven pic 6's out of my head.

I don't think Lee played enough the last two years for anyone to make any decisions on how he will perform this year. Like JJ, I can just hope things have improved.

He's not gonna have that type of ratio as a full time starter. Last year, he was put in situations that he would excel in and would get switched out when they don't see the need for a pocket passer. I expect him to put up solid numbers but I see him throwing closer to 10 int's because of the increased opportunities. It's like a runningback who averages 5.5 yards a carry as a backup and drops to 4.5 once he becomes the starter.

After watching the opening drive of the cotton bowl last night and the second half of the LSU vs UNC game this morning and I'm not going to miss JJ that much.

That will have been 4 seasons ago.
You think he's improved any from his Freshman to his Senior year?
Is that even possible?
Hmmm.

True, but he did save our season with his performances in the UF and UT games last year. If Lee hadn't been available last year, we would've gone 8-4 at best, imo.

JLEE will have a great year for the Tigers

Like game winning drives against UF? Game winning TD against UF? 4th and 19 against Tenn? Driving to the goal line after completing that 4th down? Clinching 3rd and 15 against alabama?
bullshite. He was put in situations last year that a backup doesn't get put in

Like that last drive against Tennessee?
4th and 13?
Like the work he did against Florida in the Swamp at the end of the game?
Like 3rd and 10 against Alabama with a 4 point lead, 2 and half minutes to go, and the ball at our own 20? If he doesn't come through there, Bama gets the ball back around their own 40 or midfield with over 2 minutes left. Totally different game.

I think that you are probably right here, but I do think that the 89:1 ratio is indicative that we will not see 16 INTs with 7 pick 6's this year.

He wasn't a normal backup like you see on most teams. LSU actually ran a legitimate dual-QB system with JJ declared as a starter by name. There is absolutely no worries about Lee getting his feet wet because he had so many opportunities. And yes, he was put in situations where LSU needed a QB to throw down field which is what he excelled at. LSU runs a lot of options and QB runs for their meat of their plays and that is where JL isn't any good at. JL won games for LSU but so did JJ. If you say JJ didn't win any games, then you are just blinded by the hatred of him. LSU couldn't have gone double digit wins without BOTH QB's.

I can't get this out of my head...

You also gotta figure when Lee came in teams knew LSU was going to be passing. It's not like he has the running ability of JJ...
He comes in for the last drive against tennessee EVERYONE knew we were going to be passing and he still got it done.
I'm sure we'll see more then 4 or 5 INT's this year but I seriously doubt we see close to 16 with 7 pick six's.

He was put in situations where he could STRUGGLE at. Just because its a passing situation, doesn't mean its a situation in which he could excel.

Okay? Point?

Pretty ignorant to say I'm a JJ hater. I don't hate any LSU player. I pull for who ever is under center, regardless if I want him there or not.
