Too much contradiction in testimony to get a jury to decide beyond a reasonable doubt.

Which make you wonder why the Police would go ahead and try to ruin someone's life.

Who, besides the employees of the bar, is contradicting that JJ kicked a guy in the head?

I know you guys don't give to shits probably, but I think what they are doing to JJ is a travesty. Screwing up a kids life for a bar fight? What they hell are they smoking?

I hope he is out one game and then comes back. Miles should not kick him off the team.

Neither will be convicted in court after everything comes out.

I agree. But this was about sufficient data to arrest, which does not always ensure conviction as you know. Life is full of bad breaks, some deserved some undeserved. I think this one falls in the middle since he partially brought this on to himself. Nonetheless, it is unfortunate, and I hope he shakes it off and is re-enstated. However, just like JJ started due an unfortunate situation for Lee and kept the starting spot, if Lee capitalizes, Miles should retain Lee as the starter.

don't believe it even gets to a jury. DA will NOT accept 2nd degree battery charges. curious to see if Nathan Fisher looks into past cases where freaking DNA was taken for 2nd degree freaking battery! i'm VERY familiar with homicide investigations and DNA buccal swabs and what not...and i'm still trying to figure out the whole JJ DNA sample

I don't know what the evidence will reveal, but if the ignorance and prejudice in this forum is a reflection of the jury pool, I'd agree he has no chance of being convicted.

JJ surly wouldn't get convicted in Florida, that's where I would want a jury trial.

They will offer a please to a lessor charge because the DA wont be able to get a jury to convict. JJ will be back before season is over.

DA Hillar Moore was quoted as saying he is going to present the case to a grand jury rather than prosecute it via his own decision, which is his right as district attorney.

That tells me Moore is going to see that the players are not indicted and the charges will be dropped due to insufficient or conflicting evidence.

Moore can accomplish that without it appearing he went easy on LSU football players. "It was the grand jury's decision, not mine."

Most people don't know that at one time before he as elected DA Hillar Moore was the private defense attorney LSU used when any athlete had legal problems. Moore was also the Chairman of the LSU Baseball Coaches Committee for about 6 years until he was elected DA. He is VERY close to LSU athletics.

BRPD will come off looking like a bunch of Barney Fifes in Mayberry before this is over.

If the DNA on his shoes matches the person who was kicked, he's toast.

When you get actual facts, you can make that decision. As of now, you are just throwing crap against the wall.

The only question to be answered under the charge is was he kicked in the face. A none biased jury could easily convict both. They could also not convict. My personal belief is that the final outcome will be in civil court and JJ & Jonns loose. Sorry, actions have consequences.

i think there is plenty of evidence that JJ should be guilty of his crimes. I imagine his snake oil salesmen of his new attorney will make a plea and put this to bed. this is the same attorney that represented teachers who slept with their students at Starkey academy.

Do you really think the DA will bring charges against JJ if there wasn't a strong likelihood of a conviction or at least a plea?

I know it is disappointing to LSU fans but if JJ did kick a guy in the head in the manner described, he deserves jail time.

I'll agree that these charges are way too steep. Especially if the other party started the fight; anyone arguing that "kicking someone when down is terrible" is either naive (having never been in a fight like this), or basically a jerk (people picking fights are trying to hurt someone else, so I don't really care if they get hurt instead. If you don't want to get hurt, don't start the fight).

I'm of the opinion (and I bet a number of jurors are too), that the person who started the fight basically asked for whatever injuries they get out of it. That includes getting shot, if that's the case; tough luck for him but that's what can happen. Don't start fights.
Nobody got hurt that required any hospitalization, and they were all checked out.

This would be my opinion for anyone involved in a fight, not just JJ or LSU players.

I have no idea if Jefferson will be convicted, since I've read at least 30 different theories about what actually happened. What I DO know is this: if an Alabama or Auburn QB had been involved in a similar thing, most of us would interpret the evidence differently. There would be no question as to his guilt.

Happens everywhere. Go to the Auburb board and Cam never took a dime. Miami board saying this latest scandal with them is all lies. And Bama was never guilty in the Albert Means affair.

I've never met Jefferson. The majority of us never have. If he played QB for anyone but LSU, we would have hanged him by now.
