this thread is dumb. Not only should he start over Mett....he arguably should've started over JJ
Dumbest post of the thread. Anyone who believes this either has no concept of football, is a racist, or is sexually attracted to Lee.
Jefferson and Lee are both below average quarterbacks. At least with Jefferson, LSU moved the chains once or twice before punting it away. Lee's QB rating may have been better, but it goes beyond that. You have to be able to mix the run with the pass, which Lee clearly cannot do.
Anytime he handed the ball off last season, the whole defense knew it was coming and would stop Ridley in his tracks. He was not a threat to run the ball the way Jefferson was. Jefferson could move the chains and pick up first downs, albeit not much better.
Lee has gotten better when it comes to INTs and Pick 6's. However, he cannot mix the run with the pass. When he is in a "pass only" situation, like he was in the final possessions against Tennesse or Florida, he performs well. However, you can't run an offense this way the entire game.
I wish Lee the best and hope he performs as well as delusional "Lee supporters" think he will. I hope when I'm driving on I-35 South in between Dallas and Austin late Saturday night, I'll be tuned into WWL 870AM listening to Bobby Hebert and Deke Bellavia talk about how the defense dominated and Lee played well in a big game situation. I have a feeling it won't turn out that way...

I would never bump it. I don't want to be right about an LSU QB struggling. From his past performances, Jarrett Lee has given me no reason to believe he will play well in a game as big as this.

It's cool,, Ill bump it for you.
You are right though... his past performances.. like fla and tenn of last year serve as no basis for people such as myself to be optimistic about how he will do next saturday.

Lee Supporters always point to this. He had two good drives...two...last season. The reason? He was in a "pass only" situation with four downs to work with. Do you think he can run an offense this way for an entire game? No! When he has to mix the run with the pass, he's a below average QB.
If we are down by four with two minutes to go in the game and have the ball at our own 35, I have confidence in Lee.
If we are down by four with seven minutes to go in the third quarter and have the ball at our own 35, chances are you will see a three and out from Lee. HE CANNOT MIX THE RUN WITH THE PASS!!!!!

You and my wife share two common things.
Both are attorneys and both have difficult time detecting sarcasm.

Personally, I think that's the dumbest opinion in this thread. Nothing screams you have no case like bringing up the race of the quarterback.

I didn't read a single post other than the first. Way to let this get to 8 pages, Rant.

Wait, what? If he has to hand off the ball, he magically starts sucking as a QB? I forgot when having a running game actually hurt a quarterback. I hope Les is reading, we need to make sure play action isn't in his play cards

These threads are starting to get funny with the misconceptions and half truths.

Lee is better than Jefferson. Sorry.
Which of the three choices above pertain to you, AlxTgr?

I'm not convinced he's the answer. There were times last year when Lee moved the ball effectively. Though there were times when he resorted back to old habits throwing the ball on his back foot, forcing it into coverage.
Guess we'll see if he's ready.

what exactly leads you to think this way?
I gotta hear this... Look Im trying to be civil here.. the rest of this 10 page thread is numerous people calling you a fricking idiot.
I doesnt bother me the opinion you have.. Id just like for you to say what leads you to say that.

Once again what do you base this off of?

Correct answer. He's been good, and he's been bad. If he was such an obvious upgrade, chances are he would have been starting; however, it's harder to get worse than Jefferson was last year.

throwing the ball on his back foot
this is the most over used... over spun.. mis conception about JLee that people use on this board.
Watch the 4th down throw vs tenn and see which foot he threw off of.. or the last play he had vs om in 2008.
Obv you dont want your qb throwig ducks in the open field off his back foot,, but in many cases with JLee thats not what he is doing. Ive never heard anyone ever say LEe doesnt get enough on the ball when he throws it.
I have heard numerous times peopole comment on the quick release or tight spiral he throws.. you cant do that throwing off your back foot.
I think now when you see him make that throwing motion he is waiting for a reciver to come clear.. and thats how he buys the time he needs.
Watch the tenn or Om replay on youtube if you disagree.
