Lee will clearly be a better QB than he has been in the past. I'm just worried that defenses will try to blitz and bring pressure on Lee. Hopefully if things go awry there will be a quick leash.

hopefully we can stay out of 3rd and long for the most part, in addition, I hope Krags/Stud have brought back some screens and draws to counter pressure.

Time for Miles to turn over the team to Mettenberger and Rivers! New blood that has more talent than the Jefferson/Lee Duo! If Mettenberger was good enough to Ga sarting QB going into the 2010 season then he's can handle the job! Miles just need to grow some balls and do it! If he's a gunslinger then give the ball to Mettenberger!

Texas Pete is a moron! He is probably a closet Tex. or Ok. fan depends on who is winning at the time! :rimshot:

Why was Lee named starting QB over Mettenberger?
Well, I'm not one of those guys that plays the "coaches are at all the practices and know better" card/cliche, because coaches throughout history and all over the country have showed thatthey don't always make the right decisions.
But in this case the coaches obviously feel Mett isn't ready as indicated by him receiving far fewer reps than JJ or JL in spring and fall.
As for JL he's not very mobile but if he could get past his happy feet....a big if...he does have the tools you would want from a pure pocket passer. But if he can't, the back-foot bailing still concerns me.

You are crazy TexanPete!
Based upon the the practices I haven't watched, Im more of a Rivers guy or the nameless walk-on guy from nameless Louisiana HS! Geez! Based upon the practices you haven't watched I just don't understand how you don't come to my conclusion!

Is Miles showing Lee love because he is a senior?
There is something to be said about a guy hanging with a program through thick and thin. He could've transferred to any smaller school and been a starter.
It may be a token gesture to pay tribute to a loyal player with a start. But as big as this first game is for LSU, to say the leash will be short is an understatement.

Look Mett may end up being better but he is new in the system and Lee has been in it for years! Yall will probably scream I told you so if Mett becomes the starter at some point this year but you will still be wrong. As the season progresses the likely hood of Mett overtaking Lee as the starter becomes greater as he gets game experience and has even more time getting reps with the 1's at practice. But he isn't #1 right now and shouldn't be. At least not yet.

This is just too much. Hooray for stupiditay!

Obviously, you know nothing about football...so to educate you,..Mett has not played in the system long enough to know it as good as he needs to...time will improve this,..

It's me against the world, and you pathetic fricks can't even make a rational case as to why J-Lee should start over Mettenberger.
Saying "Mettenberger can't be worse than Lee" isn't rational either.
If you go back and watch the Spring game you can see Mettenberger still has flaws that need to be worked out. Lee looks like a much better option right now.
And yes I'll be in Dallas for the game. And as soon as the game is over I'm callin you out.

I want the best man to start at QB. That man is clearly Mettenberger.
Wrong.
Mettenberger has the best physical attributes. Height, arm strength, and can make all the throws. What separates Lee from him is leadership. Right now word on "da screet" is that Mett needs to mature, learn the offense, and grow into the leadership position. Lee is a 5th year senior, he's a leader, knows the offense like the back of his hand (from his own mouth), and when he's in a rhythm he's pretty damn good.
Don't discount Lee. He was Jarrett "pick 6" Lee when he was a freshman. He's had 3 years to learn from those mistakes and grow as a QB. Lee has great upper body mechanics, but has "happy feet" and throws off of his back foot, something a good QB coach can fix - enter Krags. Lee will be improved and I think he is fully capable of leading us to the "promise land".

I have a gut feeling that Mett will be better, but even with that being said, if I were Miles I would start Lee too. IF he does struggle or throw one more pick6, then Mett would come in.
You have to think, Lee knows way more of the playbook at this point and putting Mett in without giving Lee the chance would not only be unfair to Lee who has waited his time and won games for us, (I know he';s thrown alot of pick6's too) but having Mett in, will decrease our options w/ the offensive playbopok big time.

I don't like that you guys are primed and ready to get rid of Lee the first mistake he makes. He has to feel like the coaches and fans have full confidence in him. Telling him "IF YOU THROW A PICK 6 YOU'RE GETTING YANKED" he'll play scared. Let the guy play football, ffs.
