That movie will blow.

Turn the past some incredible modern shoot'em up gore-fest. Inglorious Bastards - yes; it was WWII...he should do a Kill Bill set in the Renaissance with Machine guns next.

Tarantino, IMO, is the most overrated director in the history of film. I cannot name a single good movie he has directed.

Good for NOLA, but Tarantino will continue to be the In-N-Out of Hollywood: predictable but profane, polysemous and perfunctory, stolid yet sentimental, malapropos and monomaniacal for gore, and grossly overrated by people think themselves experts in the field.

Ok. Then don't enter threads about him.

Congratulations, you've successfully just passed Gamecockalum as worst poster in M/TV history. How are you not banned yet?

This is from some blogger who read the script as it's being passed around.

"But I found this to be maybe his most contrived work. It looks and feels too much like a “Tarantino film,” if that makes any sense, in terms of the pastiche of stylistic elements and substance that generally characterize his works. In essence, it feels kind of stale to me, despite the subject matter, and not really what I’d call a reinvention, which I was expecting.

As for the story itself… Call it the frivolity of slavery… superficial and gratuitous. It’s exploitation cinema, and, I think it would have worked much better, and been an easier pill to swallow 40 years ago."

Confirms my suspicions. I'm not anti-Tarantino...obviously Pulp, Reservoir, True Romance (writer) are modern classics but I didn't really find Kill Bill all that great and then Inglorious B. was a chore...maybe he's run his course - specific writing/directing styles do get repetitive and dull after awhile? Some directors do become parodies of themselves. I don't know...we will see with is effort.

I'm really excited about this movie. I am pretty disappointed that Jamie Foxx got cast over Will Smith and Idris Elba though.

Ignore 'em because, yes, your movie criticism is of the highest standard.

ETA: Don't want to waste another post, but I do want to continue laughing at you

Certainly higher than you or any person you take seriously.

Well, what do you think? Is his take completely off?

I was hoping for him to get it. It would be a huge breakthrough performance for him and this role won't do much for Jamie or Will's careers.

I will say that he is right that the script feels extremely Tarantino-ish, but I actually like that. He's my favorite working director now and certainly don't see it as a bad thing. I liked the characters, the humor, and the story. The script isn't as good as Inglourious Basterds, but its still a pretty good story.

So it might be along those lines. Gives me a good reference as to what is coming out.

Same here. I think Stringer is right on the cusp of becoming an A-list star. He really is a hell of an actor.
