If this deal doesn't happen, it will be because the ACC stood strong.

The SEC couldn't wrangle in VA Tech or FSU; so, instead of adding a dud like Louisville or Missouri just to get A&M, they just said no to A&M. No sweat of the SEC's back, and all the egg will be on A&M's face. Good move by the SEC, imo, if that happens. Surprising that the ACC was that strong.

Like Slive said, he could have 16 teams in 15 minutes, but if they are all turds, why would he?

*again, if this deal falls through.

Not exactly. The SEC's presidents strongly prefer additions to be unanimous, though it takes only nine votes to add. If Florida opposes FSU's addition, then the addition isn't worth it.

Well, they could have voted against the ACC teams, but it is also probable that the ACC teams rejected the invitation. Obviously, this thread/ my opinion, is the latter. This isn't the first time FSU has had the chance to join the SEC. The big dogs said no; so, tough shite for A&M.

No, the writing has been on the wall. The two darlings in the East said, no thanks. Now the presidents of the SEC said, not at this time Aggie.

Besides, I thought this was the Jump To Conference Conclusions Board. Didn't realize it was the SEC Presidents Board. Probably, should have though with all the people saying we, I, etc.; like they get a vote in this deal.

If I were FSU, I wouldnt want to join the sec. they can be a top dog in the pathetic acc every year where in contrast they would be mediocre in the SEC

Didn't you see they are ranked high in the preseason again.

Exactly. By the way, the Tejas is what that move is called. And, I think it is why the two darlings said no. VA Tech can keep winning the Coastal division, and FSU would be better off trying to win the Atlantic division than the SEC East.

Give it 48 hours and we'll see if there are any serious notions of conference expansion.

Last year Bama, Auburn, LSU, and Arkansas would have ripped them a new one. they would have been 5th in the league at best. They beat S-Carolina, but Carolina played one of their worst games of the season, and I wouldnt be surprised if MSU could have beaten them too.

Just my opinion though. Think they would be top 4 in the league this year though

All in the West. FSU would likely have been added to the East lineup. In which case, FSU beat the East champ that got to play in ATL last year. But, it was just one game; not a lot to take away from it, even if SCAR had one of their wort games of the year because I am sure the team across from them on the field had nothing to do with it.

Even if the majority of the SEC did want FSU in the conference, any UF opposition would make that difficult. And admittedly though this is simply a rumor their could also be the chance of a "gentlemen's agreement" by SC, UF, and UGA to not let CU, FSU, or GT in.. if such an agreement existed that could make it really tough for FSU to get into the SEC.

Well, that is clearly the other side of this argument. I just don't think those schools were really wanting to go anyways. They have a pretty sweet gig as is. VA Tech has been in the ACCCG 4 out of 6 times.

Edit: and ACC basketball is top notch. And, FSU has had no problem getting to Omaha being in the ACC.

To be fair I'm sure FSU would do just fine in baseball in the SEC and still have the ability to get to Omaha, the issue with FSU is what happens once they get there.
