Looking at getting a Yeti and have heard/read mixed reviews on the cooler. What says the OB?

Thx

I think it all depends on how you plan to use it.

For my purposes, its not worth the money.

Waaaay to expensive for my use. Block ice is too cheap. Also, the other day, I saw a guy in a store parking lot, get his out of the back of his truck and lock it up in the cab while he went in. That's too much trouble for me to worry about someone stealing my ice chest.

if you have the cash to blow and are the type that likes to have top end shite why not. I wouldn't turn one down but can't justify spending several hundred on a cooler. I would rather have another shimano calcutta and just stick with the igloo marine.

If you'll be on a boat or somewhere where you need to keep stuff cold for a long time then they're great and worth the money.

If you need to ice down a couple cases of 'Stones for a few hours then your standard $50 ice chest will suit your needs just fine.

Or if you need one as a status symbol go for it. Got a buddy that uses a Yeti to carry his beer around. He's currently 3 months behind on his truck note but he's damn proud of that Yeti.

they are making knock of models of the yeti now. mom's boyfriend just got a K2 ice chest and loves it. i will verify that it keeps ice in it for a very long time and they are cheaper.

I like them for one reason. I have been told that I am very rough on the equipment. A yeti can take the abuse. It doesn't hold ice good enough to justify the cost but it will hold up to the abuse. If you are easy on your equipment you probably don't need one. I know for a fact that mine has lasted longer than 4 or 5 regular brand ice chest. I can buy a 5 day coldmax by Coleman and tear the hinges off in a weekend or screw up the closure mechanism in a day. My 95qt yeti is still operational after 3 years of service. To me its the difference between buying a zebco 33 or a shimano curada. One cost a hell of alot more but it will be around much longer.
