Saints catchup- More impressed than ever with Payton & Loomis

Getting a backup safety good special teamer + a draft pick was a coup. Miami obviously thought is was gonna be a hot market for RB by agreeing to $11mil for two yrs. A head scratcher to me.
Sproles 4yrs $14 is a great reggie replacement. I've hoped for him since January. A while back HERE (careful on bumping) I said "I still think Darren Sproles has some gas. Plus he does KR & PR. He should sign for just about the same amount Reggie should sign for. A better than perfect Reggie replacement IMO." Not only a better Reggie role player but he saves the KR spot that Roby occupied.
Bushrod- the price was right but how they ever got him to do two years I am amazed by. Journeymanish looking but can hold the fort until Charles Brown or someone else can step in. We won a SB with him.
Shanlee- for all his weaknesses I like him as a backup, cheap enough
Ingram/Ivory?PT- the idea that Ivory still cannot even run & PT is reported to be at 85% makes the Ingram move all the more understandable and prudent
Clark/Dunbar- glad to see them back in the LB mix too. Should be good competition and depth no matter how it shakes out.
Herring- an under the radar move that could help a lot. They have been loading up on ST studs. Kick coverage and returns were the weakest team spots last year. Throw him in that LB competition mix too.
Gay, Arnoux, Kyle- all expected cuts to me
Usama, Ayodele- understandable with the roster changes
Mebane- no new news but this guy is a rising young elite type DT. That they are in the mix for him is impressive to me. They've managed going for it all while managing the cap space better than I imagined so far.

anxiously awaiting news on
Jenkins or Mebane personally i have no preference as long as we land one of them.
Harper and Thomas
Nicks can not make his own decision because he is restricted so there will not be any suprises there...if the market gets to hot for him then the Saints at least know they will get something back for him.
Goodwin will be nice to if Loomis could make it happen however with all the people out there we need to still bring in I am not sure if that is possible yet.

Welcome back Blues.
What's our chances look like with either Mebane or Jenkins?
