In honor of the entertaining Tennessee game thread, I am wondering what the Rant feels is the greatest regular season win for LSU since 2000 and what is the worst loss in that time span. You can view the game in whatever context you choose, whether it be looking back at the game now or how you felt immediately after.

For me, I felt like the most dominant, enjoyable win was the 2007 Virginia Tech game. LSU so thoroughly beat VT that night that I am not sure I will ever see a more impressive win in my lifetime. Also, it ended up arguably being the most important win of the season for LSU. If switches a loss in that game with the Arkansas or Kentucky loss, VT would have probably gotten the nod over LSU for the BCS NC.

As far as the worst loss is concerned, I think 2008 Alabama is it for me. Not only did we give one up to Saban for the first time, it was a game in which LSU completely outplayed Alabama in every facet of the game. Although I truly like JL (no homo), he was simply cursed that season and the Bama game is the lowlight of that season.

Best--beating Oklahoma for the national championship in '03

Worst--i agree bama '08 now that you mention it. so pumped when we blocked that chip shot field goal than lee throws his 27th interception of the season in the endzone. I was pissed off the rest of the week.

ETA: my bad you guys. didn't see regular season. 2007 UF was easily best regular season win for me. apologize for all who were offended.

Best: 2007 Florida
Worst: 2006 Auburn

Auburn game was fixed. No one will ever convince me otherwise.

I know that you said best in the reg. season but I had to include one outside of the reg season. The reg. season would be against Fla. in '07.
Best overall win: against OklaHOMOS in the 2003 NC.
Worst loss: Ark in 2002. If we win that game we play for the SEC champ. but 3 plays and 70? yards later, we lose.

Best win - Georgia in 2003

Worst loss - Auburn in 2006

ETA: Virginia Tech in 2007 was pretty big. It got us in the national championship.

"Virginia Tech is playing so well right now. They should go to the national championship game. They might be the best team in the country."

"Well LSU beat them by 40."

Best: Georgia in 2003. LSU Football took a GIANT leap forward that game.

Worst: Auburn in 2006. LSU had to play Auburn and the refs that day.

Best win for me was the 2000 game against the evil from Tuscaloosa.
Worst loss - a toss up between 2006 game against Auburn and the SEC refs and the 2009 game against the gumps and the SEC refs.

Best win: OT win over Tennessee in 2000. Made people stand up and take notice of us nationally for the first time in years. A turning point for the program.

Georgia, 2003 would be a very close second. Established us as NC contenders that year.

Worst loss: Ole Miss, 2009. The clock debacle.

OT loss to Tennessee in 2005 is a close second here. Given the circumstances surrounding that one (i.e., Katrina/Rita, etc.), I don't think I need to say more.

Best win was the 2001 SECCG against Tennessee.

Worst loss without a doubt was the 2006 Auburn. Had LSU won that game, LSU would have made 3 straight trips to the SECCG (05, 06, 07) and quite possibly could have had two SEC titles and two national titles back to back.

For me they both occurred in 2002:

Best: 36-7 over Florida in the Swamp. We had only beaten Florida once since 1988 before that game in 2002. I loved skull-raping Florida in their own stadium. Since 2002, LSU is 5-4 against Florida. Only negative is Saban left Mauck in too long, got hurt.

Worst: 20-21 to Arkansas. Cost us another trip to the SECCG.
HOW in (*&*%&$#^@%@%^&(*$%@~@!~!#$^%$@#$@~!#^%^&%&$$%#$%!$#@~!$@~$@#$#$@#@!@$~@#$#$% do you have a 20-14 lead with a half-minute to go, and your opponent backed up inside their 15 yard line, and...............LOSE ?????????????????????

How in holy hell do you give up not one, but """"""""""""TWO""""""""""""" Hail Mary's, back to back, to a QB who was 3 for 17 before that ????????

Saban should have allowed Randall to run for the 1st down on a 4th and 1, instead of kicking a FG to put us up 20-14 (although I can see where he thought that might be a safe lead).
If Randall makes the first, LSU runs out the clock, and PLAYS IN ATLANTA for the 2nd straight year.

I'm going to limit this to games that I've been to:

Best:
1) vs Florida 2007
2) @ Bama 2007
3) vs Bama 2009

Worst (and why):
1) vs R-Kansas 2007 (RunDMC ruined my last game as a student in Death Valley)
2) vs Tenn 2005 (I don't even wanna talk about this one)
3) @ Kentucky 2007 (one of Gary Crowton's first defining moments)
