6900 yard course. Who wins
I have my own thoughts that I will share later.

I'd go with the guy, but only if he shoots in the high 60s a lot of the time. If he tends to shoot in the 71-73 range then I'd go with the LPGA golfer.

Last year the scoring average for the 100th female on the LPGA was 73.75.
The average yardage for an LPGA Tour golf course is between 6,200 and 6,400 yards.
Take that for what it's worth.

Since golf is far less reliant on strength and overall athleticism than other sports, you have to go with the LPGA golfer on this one.

By definition a scratch golfer averages even par (72 usually).
So with the added distance I think you have to give the male the advantage.
But I don't know how aggressive the pins are set up in the LPGA, that could easily raise scores as well as rougher conditions than a scratch golfer playing at some scrub country club with easy pins every week.

scratch male golfer, although it could get dicey if the 100th ranked lpga player had some length to her.

Kosmo you are not correct. Scratch golfers average the course rating not even par. I also assume the course rating on an avg lpga course is 74 or so.

I was about 30 and played to a 2 handicap. I played in a pro-am with a girl from the B-tour. (kinda of like the Nike tour was for men) The course was about 6400 yards and set up tough.
I shot 73 (+1) and she shot 70. I was way way longer off the tee. She was deadly straight and accurate. Awesome on the greens too.
6900 yards Id call it close in your example. Depends on how "scratch" the male really is and how long the 100th ranked women is imo.

didn't you already provide us with a case study of this over the weekend?

There was an article in golf digest or something similar about a 6 handi going against the 100th womens golfer. It's being talked about all over the net.

J6900 is the magic number imo. Anything under that, the lpga pro wins everytime.

chosen for her bust...this chick is ranked in the Top 75, and averages 266 off the tee
So say shes 15 yards short off the tee most holes, thats nothing for someone who lives off of golf.
