SBTB was more of a spinoff. GMMB was meant to be it's own show then morphed into SBTB (included the episodes in syndication too) when it was picked up by NBC from Disney. Disney actually cancelled GMMB, hence the metamorphosis (with anothe pilot) to SBTB.

No. SBTB had it's own pilot, with a character who disappeared. She was an Asian chick who was replaced by Kelly. Her name was Danielle.
Danielle the asian was on the pilot for SBTB: College Years.
The original GMMB pilot had Urkel, Jonathan Brandis, and Brian Austin Green in it. Some weird old dude was Mr. Belding. Then it was recast with the original GMMB people (Belding, Nikki, Mikey, Milo, Bliss, Paladrino, etc.). That was Disney I believe. Then it was canceled and NBC bought the rights, and recast the show (keeping Belding, Zack, Lisa, and Screech) and moved the setting to California. Later on, they repackaged the GMMB episodes as "SBTB," even though they originally weren't actually SBTB episodes.

And when original Becky came back, walked through the kitchen, and Darlene says, "Where have you been?" I love that.

Danielle was black, played by Essence Atkins, correct?
Got ahead of myself with the Danielle reference.

to the show's credit they actually make an in-show reference to it.
i don't remember it exactly but something along the lines of roseanne saying "you look different" or something.

What happened to Danny Tanner's news partner he was seeing?

I'd call her blasian on the show. But yes, EA:

What about this little fruit on Boy Meets World?
Posted on 7/6/11 at 10:12 am to TDTGodfather
There was an in show reference to a disappearing character on "Boy Meets World".
Minkus disappeared after the first or second season and then he appeared in the high school graduation episode. Cory and Shawn ask where he was and he said "the other side of the school".
ETA: Good timing, Fletch.

Absolutely. Still love that the term Mandyville originated from her getting the axe

I didn't know that. That's actually pretty funny.

I remember her as kinda half black and half asian:
(though Essence Atkins is black)

Mandyville is such a great TV in-joke.
Det. Pembleton's kid is mentioned in the first season of Homicide, and then later in the series, he is childless. But the child never appeared onscreen.

Another unexplained disappearance from Boy Meets World was the teacher, Mr. Turner. He got in a motor cycle wreck, Shawn was at the hospital with him and apparently he was going to be okay, but Mr. Turner was never explained after that.
The same episode where Minkus appears again and says he was on the other side of the school, Minkus walks away from Cory and Shawn and yells off screen, "hey Mr. Turner, wait up". That was the only reference to Mr. Turner after the motorcycle accident.

Its already been said, but the greatest disappearing character of all time was Richie Cunningham's older brother on Happy Days. He was around the first season or so, but then disappeared and was never heard from again. Richie and Joanie got married and he never showed up or was ever mentioned. I think that Mr. C. and Mrs. C even talked about their TWO kids and stuff.
As a child, this was always disconcerting. What happened to the older brother? Did he do something wrong? Prison? Join the CIA?
