I tried rubber kid toys and tin foil. any other ideas. I'd rather not kill them but I will if I have to. Tired of poop.

If he is of the mentality to kill the swallows would not shock me if he destroyed his house.

no nest or eggs. they are just sleeping/sitting on an underledge. only pooping

tried the spikes, they had them figured out in less than a week

Hanging Owl decoys worked for me.

They do make a mess. Lay large piece cardboard for easy poop removal. Or maybe lean a board on that ledge so they can't roost.

I quit fighting them and went with it, we adopted.

Try an old shoe. Had some swallows building nest on my outside light on the patio. That wasn't bad, when they started dive bombing anyone who stepped out on the patio, that was bad. Tried everything, even sat with a water hose, & some beer, one night & sprayed them everytime they flew by. That was fun but not practical, so I put up an old shoe where they were roosting, they never came back.

Oh, I thought this was another Casey Anthony thread.

I've either got sparrows or swallows or some shite trying to nest in my gables.
They can't get into my attic and nest anymore, but they still try and nest right there on the edge of the gable vent.

Do they eat mosquitoes? If so, tolerate them. If not you may try putting putty at a slant on the ledge...the 'muckier' the better as they don't want to walk on it.
