Look at the link earlier in the thread with the USC players.

That is pretty damn bad. It's just that they gave him that the last name was Jefferson . Tough spot I guess being on TV and all.

TigerNlc......

Don't be so my freaking opic......

My post do not suggest he's got to be embraced by the fans in order to be productive.

Rather, the posts are more along the lines of a the fact that people appreciate support.

I've had many successes and failures in life, and I can tell you, the successes all had one thing in common - the support and positive expectation of others.

Very few people (and for all I know you are one of them, and this concept is foreign to you - and I'm being serious there - not a casty or cheap shot) achieve, to their greatest potential, without that.

That support comes from family and friends not 90,000 fans who don't know you other than the uniform they see on tv. He is there to produce not be coddled. It's nothing personal it's just how I feel about any athlete. It's not for everyone that's why so few can do it and they are not "kids" although we seem to classify them as such.

I don't have ties to LSU, it's just a objective opinion. If you enjoy watching a less than mediocre qb then more power to you. I won't lose any sleep over who plays qb for LSU. I actually think it's funny that LSU's qb was close to the bottom of the NCAA. That should never happen but it's a testament to the talent of the rest of the team that they can still win under those circumstances.

We'll have to agree to disagree......

At 21 (I think that's how old he'll be - may even be 20), what got said on message boards, espicially if it was relentless, etc, would have mattered to me, I think. I think it could have had an effect on my performance (although I do agree with you that it shouldn't be the determining factor - just A factor). I understand that playing QB for a top 5 team in the SEC comes with pressure, and he's got to deal.

Also, don't confuse coddling w/support. Coddling is what I do to my daughter when things don't go her way.

I'm not suggesting multiple verses of kumbaya singings after a misread/pic - just some trust in the coaches that he is our best chance to win, and if he is, let's support him.....who knows, it may help the young man out.

We really do. What's the old saying?

"He may be a _________, but he's MY __________!"

he said George Jefferson
Get over yourselves, people. He did NOT say "George Jefferson." He said "George", as in Washington. He didn't fail to distinguish our founding father Thomas Jefferson from a 70s sitcom character played by Sherman Hemsley, he simply misunderstood the question and failed to realize the answer would be a Jefferson. He thought the picture was George Washington, so he said "George."

I guess y'all have never watched a Jeopardy episode where a contestant misunderstood the question and said something like "the Mona Lisa" when the answer was "the Louvre". You people would be mocking them for not being able to tell the difference between a 2 foot by 2 foot painting and a multistory museum, huh?

There's nothing wrong with that.

I think at any age critisism matters to you but it doesn't go away after college.

It probably would, he may not be the type of person who responds well to negetive reinforcement but we all know he won't be supported unless he performs.
