*PLEASE NO SPOILERS PAST THIS POINT IN THE SERIES*
I am really liking the show. However I must say that I did not like how season 2 ended (settlement on "new Caprica", cyclons show back up). Here are my issues with it:
- Why rapidly settle a harsh climate planet when you have electricity and climate controlled conditions on the fleet's ships? I know Baltar gave the order, but this is where that democracy they keep drumming about comes into play. Go to your reps and start making noise about building something resembling a civilization before you embark on taking a step back to the 19th century.
- Why was the military basically disbanded in a year? Didn't they not see the cyclons for like 10 years prior to the last attack?
- Please start setting up medical training because it seems you have one doctor who is in his 60s.
Did anyone else have issues with how this went down? Like I said the show is great but watching this last night kind of left me a little put off.
One thing I did enjoy from season 2 was when Pegasus showed up and they showed how the humans on that ship were "less human" than some of the cyclons. Thought that was cool.

Season 3 will answer your questions.

I couldn't make it past the beginning of season 2 when Tigh was running things.

Desperation. It rears it's head early in the series. And look they did split up, so that makes it slightly more plausible.

Fair statement.

Season 2 is the weakest season, and has all the weak episodes. Season 3 is awesome, especially where they start from, so just plow right into the next season and prepare for the Adama Maneuver
The Pegasus storyline was great. Very well done. And it had another great episode in the Resurrection Ship.

Awesome television. The man was a glorious screw up when in charge, but the best right hand man ever.

What makes Tigh so great when he's in charge is that he KNOWS he's screwing up, but just can't stop himself. He is who he is, and that's what makes him such a great XO.

How could you not like the part with Tigh in charge?
Edit: As for the OP original post. Just start season 3 and not worry about that crap. The New Caprica arc is one of the best sequences of any tv series.

That was a trainwreck in every sense of the word

I hated Tigh so much at the beginning and when the show ended he was probably my favorite character. Mostly for the reasons you just mentioned.

I get the need to settle on a new planet, but that shite looked harsh. I would start to build my hut while still chilling on my ship for a while. All I'm saying.

Disbanded was a strong word but basically Adama said to Tigh before letting him go to the planet that he believed the cyclons were never coming back. Also they made a hint that with the lack of personnel on ship they couldn't mount a defense squadron worth a damn if anything approached. They really let their guard down big time.

Cool. Yeah I plan on starting that tonight.
Oh and Tricia Helfer makes it move every episode.

At this point I just hate how weak minded he is. Alcoholic who let's his cheating whore of a wife walk the frick all over him.

"My problems are personal. Yours are professional."
You sure about that, Tigh? His problems seemed pretty professional to me. Yeah, my opinions on Tigh and Gaida sort of went in opposite directions: one got more interesting and one got less interesting. (Not in a spoiler way - I just think Gaida's character stopped progressing after S3 and he became more one-note, Tigh went from one-note to this gloriously complex mess of a man, who is also quite the hero)

quote:"Lay down your burdens" is one of the biggest themes of the show. People are tired of running. they settle on this inhopsitable rock because they can call it home. the psychological boost is huge -- they don't want to run anymore.

Ok, but still I think many not only resigned to desperation, but the idea that they were never going to find earth and they just wanted to stop running.

Right.

That was harsh of me though, with the Tigh storyline early and Pegasus, Season 2 is still great, but it wandered a bit too much, the show gets more focused in Season 3 that's all.

Agreed.

Just finished season 3 and HOLY shite - JIMI HENDRIX IS A CYCLON!!!!
But seriously, great season. I can't decide if Lee Adama is one of the few righteous men around or if he's just a big contrarian douche. Maybe a little of both. All I know is most of the time I don't like him.

Bob Dylan is a Cylon. Not Hendrix. Well, maybe Hendrix. But definitely Dylan.
Posted on 6/2/11 at 9:32 am to Baloo
It was a more upbeat version they played, that's why I said Jimi. But Dylan is definitely not human.
It would have been great to have them bring in Wesley Snipes from White Men Cant Jump at that point so they can tell him that he really can't hear Jimi.
Anywho, excited to see where they go with this angle with the 5 cylons.
