Yeah, I don't think so. Doesn't the basin have a late rut?
The deer rut in the marsh early...like Nov
and the gestation period is about 6 months which would put the timing right about now for them to be dropping

Concern for deer season dates for the Upper Basin in Area 6 which includes the parishes of Pointe Coupee, Avoyelles, West Baton Rouge, Iberville, St. Martin and Assumption.
The breeding range for deer in this area is mid December to mid March with the peak months being January and February and*the average breeding date is January 15th.St. Landry Parish has an average breeding date of January 9th(more December breeding than the other parishes due to restocking), but with this late of a rut could be included with these. The lower Area 6 Parishes of Iberia, St. Mary, Terrebonne, Jefferson and Plaquemines that border the coast have much more December breeding than these others and should not be included with the upper Basin parishes.
With an average breeding date of January 15th,the average fawning date is August 15th.This means that when the bow season opens on October 1st, fawns in the upper Basin are 1 ½ months or less old. Harvest a doe nursing young fawns and the fawns will starve. This is not a good image for hunting or wildlife management. Perhaps it does not hurt the deer population as a whole, but it shows little concern from an animal welfare standpoint.

That one is from Canada. I only post that so that WAFB doesn't go putting it on the news or anything

Neither did I. I would have ended that critter's suffering without lifting it into the boat.

I agree, with the deer arent droping fawns yet but turkeys are nesting right now. Could really hurt the turkey population. I know its a big concern in Missouri

Deer might be related to fish. That's how natural they are in water. They'll be fine.
Armadillos in the spillway will be wiped out, along with a lot of rabbits. But rabbits can repopulate quickly.
The deer will move right back in when they feel it's time to.

sure, a small number of animals will die but its not really that sad to me as most animals will be fine as they are equipped to deal with this sort of shite

The area I am talking about is area 7, south of the Intracoastal, West of the River...that is not area 6! Our season ends at the end of Dec......Our rut is Oct. 7-22, Oct.23-Nov.5 Nov. 6-20, Nov.21-Nov.5, Dec. 4...
Like I said does should be dropping their fawns right about now....

I'm most concerned about the Wild Turkey hatch.

Deer love water, I wouldn't be too concerned.
