I'm calling BS, it's so zoomed in there is no perspective ... probably a garden hose someone set up to make a hoax!
I'm not one to "chicken little", but it's a pretty easy claim to verify.

I have uploaded a new video and pics. See first post in this thread.

Damn looks like it has gotten much worse. Is this in someone's back yard or is it a wooded area with no houses? That water looks like it is coming in pretty good and there is allot of river sand piled up.. This is definitely not a good thing with the rive being above flood stage for a few more weeks.

These are next to a ditch that runs alongside Beau Pre'. These boils are back toward the Farr Park Horse complex. They are in a wooded area -- but houses are visible on the other side of the ditch. I think those houses are in Beau Pre.

How far is that from the levee? How would the high water table (someone mentioned this earlier) factor into this?
Posted on 5/19/11 at 2:16 pm to Chill Pill
I would guess this is the ditch? LINK

Thanks for the link. Riverbend blvd seems pretty far from the levee, if its a ditch running parallel to that road, isn't that pretty far away?
Posted on 5/19/11 at 2:23 pm to MountainTiger
yup -- that's it. The boils are almost straight upward and slightly to the left from where Riverbend Lakes drive ends.

If I had to guess, these boils are about 800-1000 feet from the river.

Wonder if those ponds in River Bend are seeing any rise?

most definitely yes.

Seems like a boil could develop in one of those ponds and go unnoticed until it is too late.

I'm calling BS untill i see a wider view (the yellow tape around the area, the 100's of sandbags, and the telephone pole in the middle of it all). I know exatly where your talking about. I was there 3 days ago an didn't see anything like that.

Road Closed per WAFB LINK
"LA 327 (River Road) from ½ mile south of Brightside Lane, (just south of BREC Farr Park Equestrian Center) driveway, approximately 7/10 of a mile will be CLOSED. This is due to water seepage area along the levee. This closure will be for the duration of the high water period.
No through traffic will be allowed. No permit or oversized loads will be allowed.
DOTD state detour routes will be Skip Bertman Drive on the northern end and Gardere Lane on the southern end of the closure.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution in the area and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment."

Great, now I can't go run at the park or the levee.

Most definitely no. I live on the lake closest to the park. Just went out and looked - no extra water is in the lake. (I know because I have a potted iris on the edge that I check on and the water is at the same level as usual. I will kayak around tomorrow to check for bubbling.
I guess i'll take a walk down the street and check out the boils tomorrow as well.
