the key word there is "new". it takes time for a staff to gel. plus, i don't like that situation at all. hciw is weird weird. there's going to be some strange dynamics going on with wvu this season.

we gave up 400 to unc in a blowout. they started throwing the ball late in the 4th when we went to prevent with backups on the field. basically, we took our foot off the pedal too soon.

not even ark broke 400 on us last year and that is with a passing offense that will most assuredly equal or better holgerson's this season. and ark has 10 times the talent on offense that wvu does. giving up big passing yards is something that probably isn't going to happen.

now, last season has nothing to do with this season but, keep in mind lsu's offense was ATROCIOUS last year keeping the defense on the field most of the game. given that, those numbers above are ASTONISHING.

wvu can certainly beat lsu but, it probably won't happen through the air. highly, highly unlikely

and if lsu had an offense worth a darn last year, wvu would have gotten destroyed. if's don't really tell you much. the main point is, lsu's offense should actually be better this season, even if only marginally so. combined with a stout defense, that doesn't look good for wvu.

I'm not much on hyperbole, but this is probably the best and deepest defensive backfield LSU has ever had. The article you linked doesn't even begin to discuss the wealth that we have at Safety. Loston, Reid, Simon are all damn good ballplayers as well.

Oh Man! You are so right. And we still have not mentioned our senior starting safety, Brandon Taylor - who will start and provide leadership.

Well, over the night and through this early morning I can see some rational folks go involved.

I agree, the transition between Stewart and our new guy is going to be interesting. To say the least. However, I also know Dana has had great success every single place he's been and we are more talented than those stops.

I asked about your secondary because in order to beat this offense you better be deep at corner, and have athletic LB's and safeties that can cover like corners. From the article I posted no doubt your loaded at starter at cornerback. But it's going to take 4 corners and safties that can cover plus LB's that cover like safeties.

Look, you all are vastly more talented than us. No argument there. However, if you think this game is going to be a cake walk or blow out or whatever your in for a serious shock. Our guys are not intimidated by you or the SEC. We generally beat SEC teams and we've done so at away venues.

LSU coming to Morgantown is a big time state wide event. A packed house and a confident team and national TV with the winner positioning themselves for a big prize. Particularly in our case because your the toughest and biggest game on our schedule out of conference.

Actually it's not. Holgerson's run/pass ratio at both UH and OSU were more reasonable than you realize. His biggest win at UH was against TT in 2009. 58 passes. 36 runs. OSU vs TA&M. 42 passes. 26 runs. Bryce Bell and Kendall Hunter were both very good, and not neglected of carries.

Brandon Weeden only had over 400 yards 3 times last season, and honestly, your guy isn't close to the passer that either Weeden or Case Kennum is.

Dammit, I want to go. If my wife wouldn't be 8.5 months pregnant at the time, I'd be there. Sounds like a blast. Should be some fun tailgaiting and a hell of a game.

Just FYI man, Mike Brockers is 6'6" 300 lbs. Anthony Johnson is 6'3" 294 lbs.

For reference, last year, Drake Nevis was 6'2" 285 lbs. Our DT's are big, athletic and good at the point of attack. Our only question on defense is linebacker, but Baker should be the only one to play all 3 downs because we'll be in nickel a lot.
