There is no question that Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant intends to play Tuesday night, when the Lakers and Hornets meet in Game 5 of their Western Conference first-round playoff series.
But Bryant, who twisted his left ankle in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 93-88 Lakers' loss to the Hornets, ignored the team's medical staff's advice that he get a MRI or at the least, an X-ray to check the magnitude of his injury.
The Lakers landed in Los Angeles at 3:25 a.m., Monday morning and Bryant spent the entire flight back from New Orleans receiving an assortment of treatment on his ankle, including electro stimunlation and ice. He did not participate in the team's Monday afternoon practice and was not made available for interview.
Bryant suffered the injury when his foot twisted under him awkwardly, while he was guarding the Hornets' Willie Green.

he's playing with fire
his ego is getting the best of him and may end up hurting him in the long run if he makes it even worse next game

Did we really expect anything else? He's milking it for a little LA drama thats all. If Hollywood knows anything, its a little drama. Damn I can see all the sports writers having a field day with this if he manages 30+ points in Game 5.

Kobe is still guaranteed a lot of money over the next 3 years:
$25,244,000
$27,849,000
$30,453,000
If someone was really concerned it wouldn't be his call to make.

I'm calling bullshite, the lakers are not that stupid to let him refuse the MRI and xray. U gonna ask me to believe the lakers with that much money guaranteed in a player that they would let him potentially end his career tomorrow night? I think they did the MRI and xray, came back negative and they just playing mind games.

Morris Bart needs to Fed-Ex a baseball bat and a 20 carat diamond to Kobe's wife with a note saying
"you know what to do."

DJ Mbenga needs to run off the bench and step on his ankles/feet.

ESPN article said that Kobe usually seeks private consultation away from the team doctor. So basically, as I understand it, he's refusing to let the team doctors look at him, but he'll still end up seeing another doctor regardless.
also, expect him to play whether or not he's at 100%. He's so full of himself that he can't let himself NOT play.
