I live in Hammond and personally have never seen anyone kayak fishing in the area (manchac, tangi river, tickfaw and other surrounding creeks). Where is a good place for this type of fishing within an hour drive? It seems like it would be fun in the right setting.

I thought it was common knowledge that the OB board is a different breed than "those" people on the other boards.
But anyway I would love to do some fishing out of a kayak, seems like it is a one time cost and over time it pays for itself. Would the rigolets be a good as an example for such a place for fishing?

Alot of people around here kayak in local ponds/lakes. Not sure how many take them to the coast.

so its not a good place to kayak fish because you dont see others doing it? I don't follow
the right setting is where other people are doing it at the same time as you?

You're probably gonna want to avoid rivers.

There are a lots of guys on the Northshore that are in the Bayou Coast Kayak Fishing club, and fish Labranche, Manchac, the rigolets, Big Branch, Bayou Sauvage and many other areas within an hour of Hammond.

I use a pirogue - I like having the storage space. My pirogue is completely empty on the inside (no fixed seats) so I have a ton of room. I like the maneuverability of the pirogue.
