Has LSU named a women's basketball coach? And if not...

..why not? Could it be our new coach is still playing?
Otherwise, why fire The current coach if you aren't certain of his replacement?
Am I dreaming?

We're hiring Geno and Mulkey and Summit have agreed to be his assistants.

I havent even seen a news article about it. No rumors or anything.
This is all ASSUMPTION, but if they haven't named one yet, I think it's because they plan in offering/have offered someone that's coaching in the tournament still. Whether it's a UT or UConn assistant, or one ofthe HC's I have a feeling that's the deal. It's been noticeably quit IMO so that's why I make that assumption.

I'd say the Louisville coach is the realistic candidate everyone wants. I read his bio and he definitely knows what he is doing.
I am sure we could snag the Gonzaga coach.

Someone asks a question and a douche shows up to be a smart arse. Typical rant idiocy.

Stop taking shite so seriously. The reason it's been so quiet is because it's women's basketball. It's not really a big deal.

I think the reason it's been so quiet is the fact that our coach just "resigned" 12 days ago. Ya think that maybe, just maybe, that's not enough time to find the replacement yet............especially considering that the NCAA tournament is still going on?
I guess patience was never really a characteristic of the Rant.

It's funny that each of the three coaches you mentioned makes over a million. No, not a big deal at all.

Then why are you in this thread?

I really believe that Alleva is going to force Mulkey to tell him "No". Throw her a great package and see what happens.
Say what you want, this is still a desireable job. We will get a good coach, and there is no reason we shouldn't at least try to grab Mulkey.
I don't think it happens, especially if they win it all this year, but ya never know.

That won't take long.

FYI - Alleve is (or was Sunday night) staying at the same hotel in Dallas where the Baylor team is staying for the Women's basketball regional tournament. Just saying. He could have been in town to watch the Wisconsin-Green Bay team and their coach. I would hire the W-GB coach in a minute. His team was very well coached on the fundamentals of basketball. Also, could be looking at Gary Blair (A&M coach) who was a former LaTech coach. He would also be a great hire.

k.m. has a 4 mil buy out. not happening. their top choice was the u.c.l.a. coach. she has a big buy out. doesn't look like that will happen.
lsu is running into a lot of difficulty with the ladies buy outs. they are willing to pay 500-600k, however, the womens coaches aren't able to absorb their current buy out. they have had some excellent candidates, however, when they find out their buy out's, they can't pull the trigger.
look for them to make a youth movement on the womens b.b. and s.b. hires.

I certainly would and it would be much the same as Michigan forcing LM to say "no".
Kim is from La and played ball in La. LSU is not that long removed from 5 straight trips to the Women's Final 4 and is already paying $700,000 to a Lady basketball coach.
So...why not give her a try? She has been elite all her life in every avenue of basketball.

I don't have a problem with them going for Mulkey. I don't think they have a shot at getting her but, why not start at the top?
As for the buyouts...............the AD knows that the top coaches have buyouts. So, if he's in the running for any of them, he's doing it with that knowledge in hand. I don't think that will stop them from offering if they find the coach they want. At the same time, I wouldn't mind the hiring of a young up and coming coach if that coach has some kind of impressive resume, albeit short. We shouldn't be hiring someone who is a project. It should be someone who has SHOWN they know how to run a successful program, like Jen Rizotti at Hartford.
Again, I still say they should shoot for Jeff Walz at Louisville. He'd be perfect.

Jordy Hultberg wants Mulkey but he does not think it will happen, it's a longshot.
She makes too much money - LSU is not going that high or above what she already makes.

I know a friend who knows a friend who knows someone and 2 coaches have been on campus to interview. Kristy Curry from TX Tech and Katie Meirer from Miami

Kristy Curry is from Louisiana. She led Purdue to the championship game back in either 1999 or 2000. I cant remember which year exactly. I think she left Purdue because she wanted to be closer to home.
