How does the NCAA whitewash the tOSU/Tressel situation?

If you're honest with yourself you know the NCAA is looking for ways to sweep Tressel's lies to them under the rug but how do they in this situation? You have e-mails that are now public and at least 2 documented instances where the head coach signed off with the NCAA stating that he wasn't aware of any possible NCAA violations at tOSU. The NCAA is legendary for turning a blind eye to Big Ten violations and instead focusing on a smaller school or an SEC school instead.
With Maurice Clarett, they "couldn't reach him on his cell phone". I have to hand it to the NCAA as that's about as creative an excuse to stop an investigation as I've ever heard in my life. I just trying to figure out what the NCAA has left in their bag of tricks. Will they divert their attention to an SEC school hoping the tOSU situation is forgotten or do they have to get REALLY creative to whitewash this? Any predictions?

Tressel is screwed. I'm not buying all the 'OSU is untouchable' crap.

This is the most idiotic post I have ever seen. May god have mercy on your soul.
Tressel is guilty. 5 games is plenty. This sh1t does not give OSU a competitive advantage.
FOr hell, Pearl LIED to the NCAA, had recruits at his house, and got 1/3 of the season. TRESSEL DIDNT TELL INFORMATION, and is getting suspended half of the season. OVER TATOOS AND MEMORBILIA .

could you change the title to 'how will the NCAA screw an SEC school instead of Tressel/ OSU' and post this on the SEC Rant. that place is great for conspiracy stuff.

They'll probably announce findings in this investigation and the Southern Cal case on a Friday afternoon around 4-4:30 pm EST.

I don't get that reference.

We deserve what we get. If Tressel's suspended for the season and we lose schollys, so be it.

This. OP statement is retarded.
The moronic Buckeye poster is still in high school. Judging by his posts he doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of getting into Ohio State.

This is my Guess. Suspended one additional game making it 6 games and half the season..The 2010 season will be vacated...and probation for 3 years. Thats my guess coming from an avid OSU fan who is on all their message boards.

1) A lie of omission is as bad as a lie of commission.
2) USC did not gain any competitive advantage from a market agent's decision to try to bribe Reggie Bush and his family.
3) Tressel knew that his kids were getting gifts and money (you can't trace the money, but the fact that they were hanging around a guy who is so well known as a drug dealer that the FEDS are investigating him should raise flags...) and covered it up.

I'm only hoping the Sugar Bowl doesn't get vacated because the NCAA knew about it already and laid down the suspension.
Clinging to that SEC win baby

I agree I want it to stand but I dont see it standing. the players were allowed to play on the merit that OSU discovered the violations 2 weeks prior to the Allstate Sugar Bowl....with the new information that the head coach knew about the violations back before the season. That changes things drastically which is why the 2010 season will be vacated

This may not be what everyone else thinks, but either the players were ineligible or not IMO, no matter if the coach knew. If the NCAA rules them ineligible, then we forfeit the games they played in, they are no longer eligible and removed from the team.
Or they are punished and not deemed ineligible. I don't see how there can be a happy medium.
I really don't even see where you can get suspended for something like this. Either you ruined your amateur status and can no longer play college ball, or you didn't.

But it's not even a lie of omission, right? He basically said that he didn't know of wrongdoings when he did. That's a straight up lie no matter how you try to bend it.
I'm interested to see what the NCAA does about this, and if they try to set any kinds of precedents with it. I do think OSU should have aimed a little higher than two games from the start though.

It was a HUGE competitive advantage for Tressel and tOSU to not have these players suspended for 4 games like Green at UGA for his game Jersey.
Another competitive advantage for Tressel to Lie a 2nd time so the players could help him finally win a BCS game against the SEC.
Tressel should be fired by tOSU if they want to look like anything but cheaters. Tressel caught his players cheating/breaking amateur status rules. He lied and orchestrated a cover up to gain a competitive advantage over his opponents.
That's about as bad as I've seen, ever.
