I saw a video shot of it and it was the state of Louisiana in Purple w/ the letters LSU going across it in yellow. Never knew about this design.

I just looked everywhere for that logo and can't find it. I think it was only like that in 86-87. Maybe before but definitely not after.

'87 definitely had the state of LA logo. No need for pics. Some of us just know.

If I remember correctly, it went like this:
They were filming "Everybody's All-American" during the season. Several times during actual season, scenes for the movie were filmed before the real games and during halftime. The fictitious school in the film was the University of Louisiana. The state outline was the logo used for "UL". After filming was finished, instead of repainting the field, the "LSU" was just added.

@JCT...My folks were going to games at this time and they always told me about that movie being filmed. Thanks for the history lesson. I love this stuff.

I really did like that logo - I have never been a fan of the eye although I know many love it.
I sure hope younger Tiger fans know a little about that '87 team. That was the best LSU team in my memory (born 1970) until the 2003 national title team and the '87 squad was almost equally talented, with a little more on offense. Some tough DL's, excellent LB's, and some very physical DB's and then on offense you had NFL talent all over the field. Only loss was to Bama when Hodson was hurt and could not play and then had a tie to Ohio State that should have been a win (and admittedly, after LSU screwed it up, could have been a loss). Tigers crushed a top ten South Carolina team in the Gator Bowl to finish 10-1-1 and I believe were ranked 4th in UPI (coaches) and 5th by AP.

This may seem hard to believe but in those days there was no University of Louisiana!

No shite...I graduated from USL. My point was that I'm fairly certain that the school was CLEARLY LSU, not University of Louisiana. Given that the original story was written about a player at UNC, when they moved the story to Louisiana and had him in Baton Rouge, wear P&G, playing it Tiger Stadium with the direct assistance of LSU, why on earth would they change the name? Why would LSU even allow that if they were not going to benefit from the name recognition?
I don;t have the movie and haven;t seen it in ages, but I call bullshite on this claim. there's no way I would not remember them torturing the name like that.
Anyone else recall the name being changed?

Everybody's All-American was the movie with Dennis Quaid, John Goodman and Timothy Hutton and Jessica Lange.
