It's been stated several times already, but now I know why Les hired him. He's not going to lose a game because of his playbook or gameplan.

Sure seemed like we gained a few yards running the option.

Even as fricked up as we ran it, it really did produce toward the end of the season.

Very true. despite its critics, the option was actually a very integral part of the success that we occasionally did have on offense in 2010.

I'm saying this a bit tongue-in-cheek, but did anyone else come away from this interview thinking "This guy should be our head coach!"

Coach-in-waiting?

I liked what he said. Seems like he knows what he wants and is excited to be a Tiger. This may turn out good.

"I've had the chance to watch Mettenberger throughout the fall"

Leslie sure did make the call to him early

I have a hard time buying that option tams make their living on the short side

the key to the short side is the offense gets there quicker. the option isn't about space, but about correct reads and quick cuts. When you run to the wide side the defense has more players there and can slant players to gaps, getting there about the same time as the offense. Again the option isn't about more time or space.

LSU sucked just as bad to the wide side as the short side over the past few years.

Honestly, listening to him talk in great detail about QB positioning---the "from the hips down" bit about Steve Young, in particular---was really cool.

Very intrigued by Krags...look forward to the spring and to Oregon, of course.

He specifically said "the best players will play ... seniority is for the army" Said it's definitely an open competition.

I will say this...Les' favorite word is "quality"...Steve's favorite word is "sure"

Talking with friends, this was a better hire than anyone else that was interviewed.

I have to admit I loved the press conference. I hope his PR abilities translate to the field. Seems like a good coach and great hire based on the PC. I remember Jimbo's first PC after Saban left (remember Saban didn't let his assistants interview) and he said he would now open the playbook. I was jacked up until game one when he ran the same old conservative stuff. Hope this isn't the case now. I guess it depends on how much Krags is allowed to run things on the O side.
