we all have to agree that Peyton manning and Drew brees are both great quarterbacks. comparing records and skill however, i think Peyton Manning blows Drew brees out of the water but i would love to see what everyone else thinks.

Brees and the Saints' record in Superbowls Vs. Manning and the Colts: 1-0.

Both are elite but had Brees got a jump earlier in his career, I think he would surpass Manning easily.

One thing I think is overrated in Manning is his playoff ability. The one year he won the superbowl, his defense bailed him out in the championship game. He almost choked that game like he did the previous years in the playoffs. He is overrated for some reason in the playoffs but is a amazing regular season QB. He is still pretty good in the playoffs but he never seems to be nearly as good in those games.

yeah i agree, peyton does seem to not play his best in the playoffs when it really matters most. if the colts had a run game, i think it would take the pressure off of him to carry the team passing wise and he would end up doing way better

I normally hate the "clutch" metric for measuring Quarterbacks, but Peyton Manning folds under pressure every single time.

I hold him responsible for people thinking a Ben Roethlisberger is on par with him, Brees, and Brady

Here ya go

quote:

Peyton Manning is not a good playoff quarterback.
Period.

quote:

The stats don't lie: His teams are 9-10 in the postseason. His teams have been one-and-done seven times. His quarterback rating, 94.9 during the regular season, is 88.4 in the postseason. In those 10 playoff losses, the Colts have averaged a touch more than 14 points per game.

LINK

Drew is 4-2 in the postseason Including beating Peyton the Super Bowl since coming to the Saints.

Because the media changes the criteria of the MVP award to whatever fits Manning the best...The super bowl, he just wasn't the best player on his team that day.

And Drew shouldve been League MVP last year and not Peyton. Anybody with any since can see that.

GOCOLTS, not the most wonderful posts to start off here, keep trying though, we have an award for the best visiting poster

the clutch win factor certainly has to play into the Manning equation. For direct comparison I'd just extrapolate Brees numbers forward 3 years.

Doing that you get these numbers Manning/Brees

Completion % 64.9/66
Yds 54828/48766
TDs 399/337
INTs 198/180
Rating 94.9/94ish

Difference in numbers there is from Brees taking a few years to become a starter vs. Manning from the get go. The final tally will just be from longevity. Good body when aging, the team situation, and some luck all play into that. The numbers could end up in the same ballpark.

The ultimate difference will be in rings. Drew has a better batting average on that so far. Peyton's legacy so far is kinda like the Atlanta Braves of the 90's- very consistently good every year, but only one ring to show for all those great seasons.

Johnny Unitas is my top NFL QB of all-time as far as individual performance. But when you compare his post season record to Bart Starr ya gotta say you'd rather have those Green Bay years. Same thing with Marino to Montana in that era. Brees-Manning-Brady will prolly be compared similarly.

And did you notice the Saints did not even have a back that could get on the field for the end of the wildcard game? Also Brees played several games with a torn mcl this year. That is what carrying a team is all about

Brady is going to win at least two more rings. Pats are going to be stacked the next 4-5 years.
