I don't care for it but it stays packed.

my dad says they have the best oysters of anywhere, and he eats a shite ton of oysters. I like it, good food and the bar booths have tvs in them

No, but it's the best of the shitty seafood restaurants we got up here.

If you don't know a lot about seafood, Mike Anderson's is really great. It's pretty good, but I have no idea how it stays as packed as it does/why people would want to use it for a special occasion. Haven't eaten there in years.

This baffles me the most.
I used to get lunch to go from there because they ran good specials, but lately the take over an hour to make my food so I stopped ordering out.
I certainly wouldn't go there for any special occasion.

Been there once and it didn't impress me. Large plates but your cholesterol rises once you walk in. Not a big fan of oily breaded seafood. Cool to check out at least once but not worth going back.

I hate when family or coworkers recommend going there for special occasions. I almost never have a good experience there.
The fricked up thing is that I don't really have a clear cut answer as to where you should go instead.

Same here.
I prefer Louisiana Lagniappe and Parrain's over Mike Anderson's, but beyond that there isn't really good seafood around here .

Mike Andersons has been THE place since I was in school in the mid 80's. I never understood why.

name a better seafood joint in BR.
True. But at that point I look at price and atmosphere. Back in the day when the Chimes was a hole-n-the-wall....before it expanded and added compass directions to the name...I would have chosen that.

I never eat seafood in B.R. I wait for when I go home to Nola on weekends and holidays to eat all the delicious seafood there
.
