It's going to be funny when our play calling looks the same next year. You can say what you want to but les had crowton's hands tied. You will see at Maryland what kind of offense her can run. It doesn't matter who we hire les is controling the play calling. Watch he will hire some middle of the road guy that's a yes man and everything will just be lovely. Remember the old saying, you don't know what you had till you've lost it well, HELLO!!!!

He might have a good year next season. Isn't that the knock on him? He has a good first season wherever he goes then falls apart. Wasn't that what was told to TD when we hired him???

How can it look similar when crowton ran 1/2 spread and 1/2 Big 10 pro-style, more miles style??? It was obvious a mix of both coaching philosophy. Oddly enough it wasn't the run game that sucked (miles)! but crowtons spread passing game!

Yeah he was annawesome QB coach too.
GTFO! Also he calls like 95% of the plays. Whoever told you differently is an idiot.

I'm actually a Crowton supporter in the sense that I think he's a bright offensive mind and some of what you imply might be true, but I ask you this: Did Crowton have any role in the offense the last 2 seasons?
The answer is certainly yes. And considering the players can't be fired, and Miles can't be fired, Crowton had to go. There was no choice.
You certainly could end up being right: we may continue to struggle on offense. But that's really beside the point as a change had to be made in some capacity on the offensive side of the ball, and Crowton was was the logical and obvious choice. The offense has nowhere to go but up after the last two seasons. Not to mention it's good for any team to inject fresh new energy and ideas on either side of the ball every now and again regardless.
And IMO FWIW, the "style" that Miles prefers has a greater chance for more long-term success in the SEC than the "style" Crowton prefers. Crowton tries to do too much and involve too many players and formations when in reality, with better talent as LSU has, you don't have to be as diverse on offense as a less-talented team.

Time will tell. You have to give credit to Fisher for a lot of what was accomplished in 2007; significant parts of his offense remained in place. You also have to give Fisher credit for Flynn. If Miles' controlling things means a successful running game to set up the pass, that is great. Look at the Steelers, the Jets, the Ravens; they might be boring , but they are very effective.

If this was true Les would have kept Crowton, since (as you say) Les had Crowton under his thumb.

I remember BP saying something like it wasn't up to miles to get rid of crowton.

i did like the way crowton used tight ends from time to time, although they were nonexistent this past year.

How do you know it wasn't the other way around?

The ACC is garbage.

The play calling was only a small part of the problem. The offense wasn't well coached, couldn't execute, and was not efficient....poorly "coordinated" in other words. The problems were much bigger than what was called on gameday, just like they were with Malleveto on defense in 08.
ETA: It would be even more funny if the play calling does look the same, but performs much better than it did under Crowton.

FWIW, Crowton was so confused at the end of the Tennessee game he could barely call a play.
Crowton's Responsibilities:
1. Call Plays - Horrible
2. Develop QBs - Horrible
