The latest according to Albert Lin with ESPN

"First off, despite conflicting reports, WR coach Billy Gonzales said that he would not pursue the OC opening, which certainly makes it sound as if Les Miles will indeed hire someone from outside the program.
Randy Rosetta of the Baton Rouge Advocate offers a seven-pack of possible candidates, most of whom we mentioned on Thursday: Jacksonville Jaguars WR coach Todd Monken, a Miles assistant at Oklahoma State and LSU; Washington OC Doug Nussmeier, a former New Orleans Saints QB; Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB coach Steve Logan, who worked with Miles at Colorado; Tennessee OC Jim Chaney, who was Saints QB Drew Brees' OC at Purdue; Baltimore Ravens OC Cam Cameron, a longtime Miles colleague; and former Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe.
Rosetta also says not to be surprised if the following four names are linked to the opening: TCU co-OC Justin Fuente, Oklahoma RB coach Cale Gundy, former Colorado coach Gary Barnett and Green Bay Packers QB coach Tom Clements.
As for timing, Derek Ponamsky of BayouBengalsInsider.com says that sources tell him that Miles is in no rush to make a hire because the offensive half of the recruiting class is in good shape. Miles is expected to bring in several candidates over the next few days, and one source says that Gonzales remains a candidate despite what is said publicly.
This seems to contradict what Ponamsky reported on Thursday -- that Miles had already spoken with four candidates, with Arizona QB coach Frank Scelfo the only name Ponamsky could confirm."

Wow, was talking about this guy the other day as if he were a pipe dream..

So we still have no earthly idea, lol

Makes you wonder will Billy G be out next if he doesn't get the job. Didn't he leave UF because he got passed over for the OC job? Miles might be hiring two people for offense and we don't know it.

This will drag out because Les can make more recruiting visits while the OC slot is vacant (don't remember the specifics). I would think he would even have someone in the bag and not have them officially come on board until right before signing day.

NFL assistants could be willing to move with the labor situation still unsettled.

If we get cam cameron, I would be ecstatic

Chaney and Scelfo is my guess.

Sounds like the latest according to Randy Rosetta

Jacksonville Jaguars WR coach Todd Monken
Jaguars WR's outperformed their QB this year. Had them on/off in fantasy and they produced.
quote:
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB coach Steve Logan
Look at Legarette Blount and his improvement this year. With our RBs he could take some of the coaching pressure off Frank Wilson and allow Wilson some extra time to keep the recruiting pipeline open.
quote:
Tennessee OC Jim Chaney, who was Saints QB Drew Brees' OC at Purdue
Dude has some skins with Brees, and knows how to develop QBs. My personal choice for the job if he could be lured.
quote:
Ravens OC Cam Cameron, a longtime Miles colleague
Can you say to offensive recruits 'make me NFL ready'! any better than with Cameron on staff? Look at Flacco.
quote:
Green Bay Packers QB coach Tom Clements
Two words: Aaron Rogers.
Overall, Miles seems to be choosing among some real solid coaches.

Yeah, i'd expect that as well, we may know who it will be without a formal announcement for a while because LSU can have more recruit visits with a coaching spot open

Sounds like Miles already told him he is going to hire from outside.

Baltimore Ravens OC Cam Cameron
Why does this name keep getting brought up? I just can't see it happening. I'd love for it to happen, but I just can't see him leaving the NFL.

fify.
Clements took a 7th round QB and has turned him into a solid backup with definite starter potential.
Much bigger development than Rodgers, imo. Rodgers was pretty stout from the get go

If Cam Cam came here, we'd demolish everyone.

I agree it is a long shot, but I have two words for you Charlie Weis.

In all fairness, CW left because his son wants to be a coach and is at UF. Kind of a perfect storm thing, with vacancies and family ties.

He got hired at Florida.

He also left UF because Urban blocked him from interviewing for a few other jobs during his time there and then didn't promote him when the time came
