Based upon my experience the past years with Mr. Jindal's budget philophy, I would be very surprised if LSU can pay Miles what it would take for him to remain the coach. I don't believe that LSU could pay $5 million a year to attract the top tier coaches everyone wants. Jindal will not go for that and any contract would have to be approved by the Board. I think $2 to $3 million will be the max for the new coach. Whatever Jindal wants will be what the Board approves.

The AD is not tied to the Academic Dept.

If Governor Jindal likes his job, he'll keep his arse out of the hiring of an LSU coach. Period.

You realize the LSU Athletic Department is self funded....meaning absolutely no tax dollars go to pay LSU's football coach, right?

And IF he is the roadblock that keeps LSU from landing/keeping a good coach because of $$$, the man is committing political suicide & the ONLY votes he'll muster will be from tulane & ulla fans in his re-election bid.

State funds make up very little of a coaches salary. TAF and other boosters make up the majority.

Next coach will get $300k from the state just like Miles does.

The rest is privately funded through entities not associated with public expenditure.

Oh for the days when Gov. John McKeithen would show up at a high school to give a speech about the importance of supporting LSU (and the h.s. just so happened to be where a highly recruited player attended).

Jindal has no control over this and better keep his mouth shut unless he wants a mob marching on his lawn.

Jindal has jack shite to say regarding HC salary.

A very small portion $300K or so comes from LSU, the rest (all the rest) comes from a private foundation funde through private donations called Tiger Athletic Foundation or TAF for short.
