Although Harbaugh definitely may take the Michigan job, it almost seems like there is too much risk involved.
Obviously, he can get an NFL job NOW ... you can bounce around in the NFL as HC and OC as long as you want probably once you are there, not to mention make more money doing so. Even if he wasn't successful as a HC in the pros, there's no question he could come back to college and get a premier job even with NFL failure as HC.
While his stock could certainly rise at Michigan, there is a huge risk that his stock will fall as he's taking over a train-wreck. It could effectively be a premier job head-coaching career killer for Harbaugh at Michigan.
All that said, I think Harbaugh will be successful wherever he goes, including Michigan. But there's certainly a lot of risk at UM, and a lot less in the NFL IMO for him.

Not much talent on D at all and the story is that a lot of Rich Rod's recruits couldn't get recruits qualified there like they could at WVU. I guess that's an appeal for Michigan in Harbaugh upon the many positives.
That board is meltdown central right now, lots of worthless posts to sift through.
