Mel Kiper draft board ranks PP 5th and Nevis 10th

I don't buy into PP being ranked behind A.J. Green as being a better draft prospect nor do I buy into Nevis being ranked as high as #10. I feel PP is about equally as dominant as A.J. Green but is more of a rare commodity with the position he plays and his size/speed/athleticism combination. I don't know if Nevis can be as dominant of a DT in the NFL level at his stature. His motor is fantastic at the college level, but how well can he do vs guys 20-30 lbs heavier and just as athletic in the trenches? I'm afraid he will be moved over to 3-4 DE like Dorsey and will struggle in his first 2 years in the league.

I'll save the day-Nevis has actually been selected by the Saints in several mock drafts I've seen.
I agree that he's a little light in the britches, especially against a strong running team.
Personally, I think PP will make a great NFL safety when it's all said and done, ala Michael Jenkins of the Saints. Great cover skills but big enough to cover tight ends and the more physical receivers like Roddy White, Andre' Johnson, Calvin Johnson, et al...

PP7 is a rare physical talent
Hall of fame type of player one day perhaps

I believe Michael plays WR for the Falcons.
But both Michael and Malcolm went to tOSU.

So which is it ? You want him to play corner or safety ?
Why play him at safety ? There are literally only 5 or so good Tight ends in the NFL. Davis, Clark, Gates, Witten. I like the Greaham kid and Jimmy G is probably one of the best young talented TE's put there. But that position sucks now a days in the NFL.
There's something special about a guy like PP. He's a guy that can play one on one with Greg Jennings one week, and turn around and play one on one with Calvin Johnson the next. YOU DO NOT MOVE THAT TYPE OF PLAYER TO SAFETY.
Please stop with the Malcolm Jenkins comparisons for Christ sakes. Malcolm Jenkins ain't even in the same ball park as PP. Put it this way, Jenkins couldn't even guard Brandon Lafell in the MNC, there was no way he was going to be able to guard NFL WR's.

When a great college Cornerback goes into the NFL but doesnt have the speed and the hips to play corner in the big leagues they typically move him to safety.
PP has the speed AND the hips and the god-given instincts that are so rarely found in a DB of his size.
i think hes gonna play cornerback for a very long time
not saying he wont ever move to safety, id just be very surprised

Well if he could make more of an impact on the game at S then I can see him being moved. PP7 has a VERY unique skill set in that he has the speed and hips of a CB but the size and strength of a S.
I could definitely see PP7 play some sort of hybrid position in the pros. Just saying that his talents MAY be better served playing in the middle of the field rather than locking down a corner of it.

Look. You don't move players from corner who can cover guys like Desean Jackson, Steve Smith and then turn around and cover Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin. You just don't do it.
You don't move Darrelle Revis to Safety. You don't move Vontae Davis to safety. You don't move Patrick Peterson to safety.

Revis and Davis DO NOt have the size and strength of PP7. I'm not saying he should be a safety of CB but I think he will be used in a different role than a Revis. All I'm saying...

PP has a better chance of playing corner in the NFL than Jenkins did because PP has better hip movement and can change direction better. I can see him staying at cb because a dominant cb can be harder to find than a really good safety.

I'm not saying he should be a corner or should be a safety. I'm just saying that his skill set is very unique with his combo of size, speed, quickness, and ball skills. He will probably end up at CB the majority of the time but I could also see him moving around a lot instead of just lining up on the outside.

Malcolm Jenkins 15 Bench Reps, Vontae Davis 25 reps at the combine.
Which one plays safety ?
And I seriously doubt PP puts up 25 bench reps...19-22 yes, 25 is a hell of a lot for a CB

jenkins is not a corner b/c he is not fast enough. pp does not have that issue. also excellent hip flexibility and the ability to jam up at the line.
a shutdown corner is more valuable than any position on defense. outside of the qbs who will be picked in the top 5, pp could be the first non-qb selected. it all depends on the team need.
aj green is as talented as pp in his respective position, but i do agree that a corner is more valuable. the draft order will be determined by a team's need so it really doesn't matter what kiper's board looks like.

PP7's speed laughs at Malcom Jenkins. He doesn't hit like a safety either. He's like a huge not quite as fast Dion Sanders. Most likely not Dion good either, but in that mold.

He plays corner for a reason.

Everson Walls ran a 4.7 and had nearly 60 career interceptions at CORNERBACK.

clearly a CB, this discussion is retarded

Saying he would make an excellent safety isn't necessarily a knock against his corner skills. It just means he is an extremely versatile football player.

not to mention safety is becoming a more important position in the NFL
he will be a freak combine guy, and im sure they will play him at CB first though
