1. Turnovers - The key to last year was generating turnovers, this year we have been inconsistant. I think the #1 reason for that is the lack of INTs, our turnovers have largely been fumbles this year and its difficult to consistently get turnovers off of fumbles alone. Add to that Brees' interceptions and we have really struggled this year. We are -6 on the season!!!!

2. Offensive Line - The strength of strengths on this team last year, we have seen Brees get more pressure than maybe any other season since Payton has been here and the run game is very inconsistent. If we can't at least balance out the offense we are back to 2007, 2008.

3. Sacks - We rank at the bottom of the league in this category which domino effects the rest of the defense, including TO's.

At this point in the season, we are what we are. A wildcard team that has difficulty winning road games because we can't run the ball or cause turnovers.

Gonna be tough sledding. Man I hope we can avoid a season sweep by ATL, that would be tough to swallow.

Seems like you could combine offensive line and sacks into one cause of concern?

I think the Saints are a good team, however for whatever reason I feel they just don't have "it" on defense this year. I realize statistically they are ranked higher than last but I had more confidence in last year's group.

I also feel like we have abandoned the run quite a bit this year. Granted we can throw the ball as well or better than anyone else, but you still need a little more running game than what we have had this year.

Hopefully it will come together before playoffs start as it's gonna be a long road to Dallas this year.

if we have to rely on TO's to win games then we are screwed royally. you will not get those game in and game out. not this year. we need to be able to stop teams and make them punt. sure TO's are great but do not expect them. we still need a dominant front 7. we did not draft what we needed last year. we need a DT a DE and OLBs. if we cannot stop the run we will not win many games. and will not go far in the playoffs. we better start stopping the run. or we are in deep crap.

If you don't think special teams is a concern, then you really shouldn't be posting here.

This is hillarious! We lose to baltimore in baltimore barely and 1/2 there people on here start trippin on whats wrong with the saints!! Hillarious, this team will have a harder road in the playoffs this year because we wont play every game in the dome, however we have a superbowl calibur team! Dont hate on the 10 and 4 Saints! We have about 4-5 more good years of saints football in front of us, get ready to be in the playoffs for the next 4-5 years and just sit back and enjoy your saints!!

That's a real important little nugget of info relevant to this topic.

Well, to be fair, the OP's post seemed to take the entire season into account.

Hard to stay on top when you are the hunted and not the hunter. They are still riding the celebration from last year. Put a fork in them they are done.

We should just sit Brees the final 2 weeks, see what Chase Daniel has, set him up for a possible starting gig for the Saints next year!!!!!!!!

uh........ we are -6 in turnover ratio, I'm saying it will be impossible to win 3 road playoff games with that ratio and I agree front 7 must play better but that would lead to more turnovers.

I also agree special teams is a major concern, but its only cost us one game this year that I can think of which is Hartley in the Falcons game, and Hartley seems to have straightened himself out

And to the posters who think i'm reacting to the Baltimore game, uh look at the stats they back up my points, these are season long trends not one game aberrations

Technically true, but Reggie has had 2 extremele costly(at the time) fumbles on punt returns that could have easily lost us games.

The end result doesn't make the fumbles better or worse, but at the time they were disastrous.

/cue Tangering to talk about the INTs Brees threw in those 2 games

He said in point 1 this is taking us back to 07/08 form, we're already better than that is what I'm saying. This post is retarded.

None of these are groundbreaking things that everyone doesn't know already (and he left off things that are more important areas of concern). I can't stand people bitching when we have a chance to finish 1 game shy of last year and ppl think we are playing like total garbage.

And in reality, all of these are masked if we could just tackle better. 55 has got to play better. He did toward the end, but it was too late.

I bet coach and drew would take 24 at Baltimore every time too

The point isn't that we are the same team as 07/08, the point is we won a championship by consistently generating turnovers and having a balanced offensive attack

I never said we were playing like total garbage, this post is labeled reasons for concern, not "3 life altering observations about how the saints are gonna fall apart"

You don't win championships by masking problems, we are what we are, a good 10-4 team with a great coach and a great QB, but the line play is too inconsistent to go on the road in the playoffs and win 3 games. Its a successful season no doubt, I'm just being realistic, unless we buck the current trends this team won't be playing in Dallas
