[link=(The Redskins are giving "serious consideration" to releasing Albert Haynesworth by Saturday, a source tells Chris Russell of ESPN Radio.)]Via Rotoworld.[/link]

I hate all the "should we" threads, but Albert hates the 3-4 and is best utilized in a 4-3. I wouldn't hate it one bit if the Saints gave him a look. I would think there would be tons of teams calling him for work.

So, should the Saints look into it? Sure. I don't think they would just ignore it. The Redskins already paid him big time, so I would imagine the Saints wouldn't owe him anything on that contract.

For all that is holy, please don't bring this disease into our locker room. I don't care if you can pick up his sorry arse for RC Cola and a bag of pig skins.

I get the idea that he is lazy and wouldn't work hard so don't bring him in, but the whole locker room chemistry thing is baffling.

The idea that Haynesworth would come in and disrpt things carries with it the contra idea that Payton, Brees, Vilma etc can't handle the locker room.

What would the financial situation look like if we picked him up? Would the Redskins have to eat up some of the contract?

I'm not a contract expert, but I do know that the Redskins paid him a $21MM bonus this offseason. Or at least I remember hearing about it. I guess if he's not claimed on waivers, then no one is on the hook for his contract and then he becomes a free agent, at which case he can be had at the league minimum.

so what you are asking is, will Payton change being the coach he is to bring in a cancer. A cancer worse than T. Owens. Just because a player plays great, doesn't make him a great player. Look at T.O., he's a legend in his own mind, how many rings does he have. He should have atleast 2, with the teams he's played on, if he was as great as he claims to be.

He couldn't start on a defense ran by Jim Haslett. He couldn't handle playing for Gregg Williams, he would make Fat Albert cry like the little baby he is.

"will Payton change being the coach he is to bring in a cancer."

You mean the coach that stuck with JB and Will Smith after they roughed up their women a bit?

"Look at T.O., he's a legend in his own mind, how many rings does he have. He should have atleast 2, with the teams he's played on, if he was as great as he claims to be"

dude was a beast in the SB. It's a team sport.

this is correct, claim him and we are on the hook for his Reasonable base salary only. We could cut him without penalty if he doesn't pan out.

Look, I'm just saying the Saints should look into it. If they see that he's got the attitude of a turd, then I trust they would stay away.

But you see what I see. That defensive line needs help in the worst way. I think Vilma, Brees and Sharper have this locker chemistry stuff under control enough to not let one bad apple ruin it for everyone.

I think he would jump at the chance to come to a team like the Saints. Playoff bound, needing help stopping the run, near the end of the season. If he is truly "lazy" as described, he could come in here and bust arse for a few games and potentially reap a huge reward (playoff victories, rings, etc.).

Worth a look.

As the first person on this board to suggest a trade for Haynesworth (see LINK), I would like to say that I am very glad that I am not the Saints' general manager.

Also, the Washington Post is refuting that earlier report saying that the Redskins do not plan on cutting Haynesworth.
