ok but how are those guys doing? could they help LSU? I know LSU wanted Galloway but how much and what kind of impact he would have had here is anyones guess.

Out of all of the guys listed, Armelin is probably getting the most playing time.

I think Trent will get his share as time goes on.

First of all, it's not like we've ever had a fence around Louisiana in basketball the way we do in football, and secondly, it's easier to get the guys you want when you have a few years under you're belt to convince the prospects the program's heading in the right direction.

This year, and next year's classes look a little better than what we've been getting. With continued progress on the court, which I fully expect, I think Trent turns this around.

He may never get EVERY player we want from the state but, I really think we're gonna have a shot at a lot more of them.

Actually, if you think about it, as he begins his 3rd year, we have a more balanced roster than we did at almost any time during the Brady era. What I mean is, almost every year that Brady was here, were were either a team full of swingmen with no depth at 4 and 5 positions, or a team with no point guards etc.

If you check the stats you will find that none of those guys are even close prduction wise to Turner and Stringer, except maybe Galloway.

How many players are Kennedy and Stansbury going to let leave Mississippi?

Andre Stringer - Leading scorer at LSU

Johnny O'Bryant - 5 star recruit!

Point is, you never know how these guys are going to turn out. Louisiana has had a few down years recently in basketball

statsheet.com has a collection from various sources where they compile 'top 100' recruits for each year, by state, team, etc.
this uses their #s.

i count 34 'top 100' players, with lsu signing 9.

i also list in parentheses next to the year the out of state 'top 100' guys lsu signed

i realize top 100 isnt the BEST way to go, but if a guy is not on the list it probably at least means that other big schools missed them as well. Guys like antonio hudson, darrel mitchel, tyrus thomas of course had big impacts without making these lists--all LA people for LSU, so im sure non top 100 LA people had impacts at other schools as well)

this leaves out juco guys as well..

john brady (dont have his 1st yeaer, but he had to piece together JUCO scrubs because of the situation)

jermaine williams - lsu
stromile swift - lsu

So Galloway is the only one worthwhile we've missed on, got it.

And he still wouldnt of started this year over Stringer/Dotson

He can't have 20 players on the roster, and I'm good with the guys we have.

You're gonna lose some players in state in hoops, that's just the way it is.

I admit I thought Trent could've done better his first couple of years here recruiting. His strategy was to sacrifice the now for the long term as he felt there were better players down the line. But I did think he sacraficed too much.

I will say I saw Derenbecker and Galloway head-to-head and I thought Derenbecker the better player in the limited time I saw them compete.

How good are the others you mentioned doing on the hardwood.
