...or are they just doing their due diligence?

Is the Miami job perhaps not that attractive anymore and that's why they still haven't found a coach?

Shannon was fired less than a week ago

do you really think too much time has passed?????

If we were in January, then I'd agree, but damn - 6 days?

The media-driven age of instant resolution of issues, and instant gratification of wants, has warped too many minds. A week is enough time to figure out whom they want and try to convince himto want them? If they get it done in a month, they will have moved with impressive speed.

they do sort of have a lot riding on this hire, but yeah they should probably rush it.

This.

The best thing about the campus is the fact that it's 30 minutes from South Beach.

almost makes it a wash. whenever you start feeling down about the facilities or fans you take a stroll on the beach and look at some boobies.

The fact that the future coach could get on a bike ride 10 miles in any direction and recruit top notch talent for every position on that team, and in Mullen's case, the road to the BCS is 1000x easier outweighs the above facts.

They won't do it and it won't get close to it b/c of what's he's involved in, but I'd go after Mike Leach. His offense with the athletes and skill players already there and in that area that they can recruit could be insane.

Miami is losing recruits like flies. Only down to 6 commitments.

I still don't think Schiano is a terrible coach. It's fricking Rutgers.

Add that to the fact that Tom Savage was hurt all year this year, they didn't do much. Kid is gonna be a monster, IMO.

i have to disagree with you here. as a life long rutgers fan, schiano did an amazing job rebuilding (building really) the program. BUT he is terrible gameday coach. he makes les miles look like vince lombardi on the sidelines. plus losing savage this year hurt very little, he was terrible before he got hurt and dodd had a pretty solid year. i would love for somebody to come along and scoop up greg, hes reached his peak at ru as far as im concerned. his dictatorship has grown tiresome for most of the fan base and the few people i know that work in the athletic office hate the man with a passion.

As others have said, it's only been 6 days. This is a major decision that will cost the school upwards of $20 million dollars over the next 5 years. That kind of decision takes time and requires careful planning and investigation. As it should, in my opinion.

Miami has money to spend, but the last two hires they did not have to spend it.

i know what the gruden offer was and it was close to 4 mill a year. so the money is there to be spent.
