With the shite they were able to pull with the slave owner in Gladiator, I'm sure they have enough material on the cutting room floor to make Heath ledger's appearance believable and important.

Agreed. So long as it fits the story and flow of the movie, I'm all for it. But I put trust in Nolan's vision.

So... lets put in a cameo of a dude that overdosed on about 15 different types of medication cause he couldn't cope...Yes he played a good role of the joker but whats the point. Move on let it be!

I think the guy who played the slave owner in gladiator died during filming. They did some sort of cgi to finish his unfinished scenes. At least I think so. I could be wrong.

Ya, they took some stuff they had filmed before and reused it. If I remember correctly, they flipped his walking direction from an earlier shot with CGI, also took lines he had said earlier in the movie and spliced them for later scenes so it looks like they were in context. You would have never known had they not told you, I think theres a Youtube link of them explaining.

ETA: A little from Wikipedia.

quote:

An unexpected post-production job was caused by the death of Oliver Reed of a heart attack during the filming in Malta, before all his scenes had been shot. The Mill created a digital body double for the remaining scenes involving his character Proximo[23] by photographing a live action body-double in the shadows and by mapping a 3D CGI mask of Reed's face to the remaining scenes during production at an estimated cost of $3.2 million for two minutes of additional footage.[26][27] Visual effects supervisor John Nelson reflected on the decision to include the additional footage: "What we did was small compared to our other tasks on the film. What Oliver did was much greater. He gave an inspiring, moving performance. All we did was help him finish it."[26] The film is dedicated to Reed's memory.[28]

It won't be big. Just a nice tribute to a guy who passed away and a character that earned that movie a ton of money. Nothing wrong with that.

Nolan's channeling the ghost of Ed Wood -- if only CGI existed in the early '60s.

This isn't happening. There's no bridging continuity with one scene aided by CGI, and it would be kinda creepy. Unless there's a shot of him sitting in a cell in Arkham.

Dude GFY and read the article. Its to support continuity of the 2 movies blending together most likely at the beginning and won't last very long. I trust Nolan. I think he has done an awesome job with this franchise turning it into more of a realistic crime gangster type movie. Looking forward to this one.

I expect the Joker's role to be similiar to the Scare Crow's role in the DK

There's probably tons of unused footage they can use. You do realize that the average 2 hour film shoots hundreds of hours of film right? Hell, they could even use something where he technically messed up and make it work.

A) GFY
B) The young man died for his mistake. You taking a stab at him now is pretty dickless.
C) If adding his character in the movie for a cameo through CGI is done right it would totally enhance the movie

I can see this happening. If they do this it will most probably be as flashback material. There was a rumor at one point that there would be a scene in Arkham Asylum where they would CG Ledger's face onto another actor for a fleeting shot while passing the holding cells, or something of that ilk.

They also did this (to a lesser extent) with Ah-nold in the final Terminator movie.

I whole-heartedly approve of this. It would be a fitting final nod at one of the best cinematic performances in at least a generation.
