Fat Tire - Distribution

Why is it that they don't sell this in Louisiana?

More importantly why isn't Dogfish Head, Oskar Blues, Victory, Widmer, Avery, Founders, Ballast Point, Green Flash among many others not distributed in LA? Because we are a state of bud, miller, coors drinkers who do not know or appreciate good beer. Also Mockler, Cresent Crown, and BR Beer do not want to piss off big brother.

My taste buds are begging for good beer in this state! I was so excited when we got Lazy Magnolia, Broklyn, and Rougue. Looking forward to St Arnolds. All my friends are Bud Light and Miller lite drinkers and I hate that skunk piss.

I hear it actually might happen with distribution here. Reason I have heard it hasent is that they do not want it to get to big for whatever reason. There are several places in BR that have it under the radar fyi.

That is a pretty good summary of it.
I thought it was Fat Tire that I heard didn't want to expand to this state just yet though. Maybe I have it confused with St. Arnold though.
Like you pointed out though, stores and bars want to put stuff on the shelves that is going to move and want things that will make them money. Other than a few stores in BR and N.O., there just aren't many places that bring in customers that will support the effort of bringing in beer like this to the state.

New Belgium brewery is expanding at a pace and distribution level they feel is cost efficient and most profitable while still tring to remain a craft beer. They have stated LA distribution is in there short list.
Oh and I agree fat tire is one of my least favorite of their products. It sells on it's name recognition.

I guess I'm just a heathen simpleton, I've always thought Fat Tire was good stuff.

Looks like a logical next step to me.

Dogfish Head, Oskar Blues, Victory, Widmer, Avery, Founders, Ballast Point, Green Flash
DFH - Has plans to expand their label into LA in thea near future. They are expanding their brewery and already have LA in the market for future exapnasion.
Oskar Blues - There was some talk of them getting in here over the last year but nothing materialized. I think they are having enough concerns meeting what they already sell.
Victory - I believe they are considering LA expansion as well. Perhaps in the next few years.
Widmer - Already is I thought?
Avery - Similar to Oskar Blues. They have flirted with the idea but I think they are comfortable in their current market.
Ballas Point - Wishful thinking. It's not quite big enough to sell outside of the west coast, NYC, Philly areas that are heavy craft markets. I would die to have this here as its my absolute favorite brewery.
Green Flash - Same reasoning as ballast Point. You get a little Green Flash in Texas but not a whole lot.
We have a great amount of craft beers around here. In the past few years whats available has tripled. Go to the right bars and you'll find whatever you desire really.
As for New Belgium, the guy that owns it seems to have a vendetta against Louisiana. Said he will never distribute it here. Needless to say it surfaces every now and then off the menu at a few bars here in BR. Rumor has it that New Belgium was going to be based in LA but the state was trying to shaft him on permit fees and licensing. Thus he jumped to Texas.
St. Arnolds will be in the state pretty soon as well.
ETD:
And FYI a lot of the distributors know what's up with the craft beer market. There has been a major shift here locally. If you want to point a finger at a "big beer company" don't look a bud/miller/coors, scope out Abita. They've been strong arming people more than anyone.

If that's all true, you know entirely too much about microbrewery distribution.

I have friends that own 2 bars in NOLA, one the runs a beer department up here, and a couple friends in the wine/beer distro business. I was also in the wine business for a little while. So I know who to ask and what.

I toured the brewery last year and was told by the brewery manager that LA is undoubtedly on their list as well as i have read it on their facebook page stating their interest in entering the market here. Of course it could all be BS, and I'll believe it when I see it I guess.

Nothing funnier than Touchdown Village on a Saturday, where men that buy their wives expensive jewelry and clothes, buy themselves 200+K RVs(and LSU to park it), with expensive BBQ pits to cook Hebert's, Belues, etc..finer meats..
Are drinking American p!sswater Lite, BL, or CL...fumble!!!

I like a lot of beers more, but if BL, or it's ilk are being served, I'm not turnin my nose up at it.

Oh, I will put down a free Coors, if parched. But to go out of your way to buy Miller Lite or Bud Light, etc..by design. Unless for the purpose of inexpensive "alcoholic Gatorade" while standing over a pit or while mowing the grass..confuses me.
I like premium microbrews with my foods, ballgames, & Tigers.

I agree. I'm as big a beer snob as anyone on this board. But I'll kill some Coors light while tailgating. If I drank IPA's and barrel aged stouts, i'd die of alcohol poisoning, or just be sick from the heat of august and september games.

Exactly...I can start off with some good shite, but if I want to make it to game time, I need to start mixing in some BL's as the day gets long.

I like to mix in some Powerade Zero or Gatorade in between my beer consumption, on those 97* degree days tailgating. It's like a Halftime for beer consumption.
