I think Gary Danielson is the best game announcer, period. Way smarter than most.
Somebody should have been watching the clock and called a timeout regardless of how long the ref stood over the ball.

LSU did have a late sub. There were only 10 guys on the field. (Michael Ford was the running back who got his butt chewed for not being on the field) Richard Murphy saw they were short a running back, so he ran on the field with about 12 seconds or so left on the play clock. That's why the ref stood over the ball. I looked at the clock and saw about 5 seconds left. I looked at Les and he did not notice the play clock. Jarret Lee just pointed at the ref and was like "Are ya'll going to reset the clock or what?"

The whole delay of game fiasco was on the ref standing over the ball.
If he would have got his dumb arse out of the way LSU would have had time to get the play off.
As far as Verne and Gary are concerned, I think they do a pretty good job.
They "get" the passion and life or death sense of the games they are calling for the teams involved.
If they sometimes slip up and get something wrong, you have to remember they get caught up in the games also.
I know that if I did what they do every Saturday that I would screw things up every once in a while.
There are damn sure worse play by play and color men out there.

Care to post your football resume and validate your expertise?
With those resumes and experience, they should at least know names, numbers and general info about the team they are paid to broadcast with a week to prep. Hell, they have called about 12 games of ours over the last four years.
But nope we get awful analysis and even worse play by play. With that level of experience it either shows incompetence or lack of effort put forth...I vote laziness.
Combine that with some of the worst camera work I have seen outside of 1A HS coverage, and CBS sucks.

I am surely glad to see that someone gives them some love. I am also glad to see that we use wikipedia with such passion. And I want to thank you for pleading my case......with their experience around football, you think that they might be able to call game much better than they appear to do so. I appreciate the argument and as for my fan resume.....might not find more passion here, but I did not get hired to call a game......and be a somewhat neutral....they have had their heads up Tebow's butt for years and now they want so bad to have it up Ingram's..... Once again appreciate the rant....
