but Merle could attract them to the van then drive slow and lead them up the mountain

I wouldn't bank on this. however, merle and his brother were NOT in the comics so anything goes. I just really hope not because it just seems stupid to me

Why the frick would you not set up camp in an isolated two story house/farm with flat terrain around it? Just askin'.

Maybe I'm missing something, where can you find out the setup of how the world got this way?

Yeah. That's actually one thing the gangsters/nurses/custodians actually got right. They barricaded the heck out of that building - kind of zombie-proofed it. And our loveable misfists on the mountain just went right along living out in the open without so much as a fence or a ditch to slow down the walkers. They were good at fishing though.

Though the bad arse gangsters suddenly being revealed as janitors and nurses with hearts of gold caring for old folks kind of strained credibility. Like the cop said, they were one hair trigger away from tons of people getting killed for no particular reason at all

That part was a bit contradictory and I didn't care for it. Minor nitpicking. I was hoping they would have somehow got glenn and the guns and then left the door open for zombies to pour in

And I'm sure it was just to heighten the terror effect, but those zombies attacking the camp looked like they had a hell of a lot more attitude than all the previous zombies shown. They looked pissed and malicious. Then again, maybe they were just very hungry

i would think once food was introduced, the zombies would get wild. Man the zombies looked great! Better than the movies

Also, why don't they grab some schoolbuses? They are raised off the ground enough to defend, only one point of entry that could be reinforced, plenty of room to sleep and the camp is mobile???

What the frick happened to all of the gun stores/sporting goods stores/etc???

If I remember correctly, the van did not have a partition between the cab & rear section, so I don't think walkers in the rear would have worked.

I think you are lookinf at it as someone watching a show and not someone actually living it. I'm sure its not that east to grab an isolated two story house/farm when the entire world is going to hell

remember, you have to be just as wary of the living as you do the dead

Remember they are running out of prey and, like animals, are very aggressive when starved. Reason why they came all the way up there.

These Zombies are pretty much some of the best I've ever seen.

As a side note/hypothesis, maybe they were attracted to the smell of the fish cooking?

In answer to the question of who got it ... I counted the wife beater (Ed?), the younger sister who threw fish back when she fished with her dad (??) and one more. I thought the last one getting bit was Shane but whoever it was was having his arm gnawed pretty good and shane looked untouched at the end so I don't know who this one was.

All I'm saying is that an undefended camp in the woods doesn't seem like the safest place to be. I know it is a tv show but I would like a little strategic thinking here. shite, the black guy nailing them from the second story seemed in a better position to defend himself.

Also, it seems cars appear to be hard to come by. How about hit up a chevy dealership and grab some 4x4 surburbans??? The asian kid can take a challenger and cruise all over the place but they don't take an SUV back into the city to grab the bag of guns???

maybe. whether it was a sound or smell something got their attention.

the moment Amy said she had to pee, i gasped. I've read that part in the comics so many times and knew what was coming. and it was awesome seeing it live

Without reading this whole thread, is this series following the comic book to a "T"? I'm not familiar with the comics.

its really not that easy i'm sure. you have to deal with other survivors and the thousands of zombies lurking around.

why don't they just find a blimp and park it on top of a grocery store, load up, and then live in the sky until its over?

I thought it showed Shane getting attacked too but apparently it wasn't him. There was another black guy that got bit, a big mexican dude(I only saw one earlier and it wasn't the one that asked the old guy about his watch) and then another skinny dark haired chick that looked similar to Ricks wife. I counted 5 total.
ETA: including Amy and the Wifebeater.

and in case anyone is interested.....

Next weeks extended sneak preview.

Yes and no. storyline is similar as far as the major points. they are adding plenty of side missions that aren't in the comic

also, there are a bunch of new people (well, there was a bunch of new people until after tonight)

My other main gripe, Carol was a hottie in the comic. She is not so much in the tv series

the only 2 anyone is gonna notice is the wife beater and Amy. The other 3 were people that obviously didn't get much camera time.
