Wanted to see what your guys thoughts are on this subject???

Not something I do, but also not something that offends me as it does others.
If a high fence hunt was offered to me I'd probably take it, but I wouldn't appreciate the kill as much though.

Under 5,000 acres....no.

there are big differences in the type of high fence hunts out there. 10 acre cage
5000 ranch
eta: I have never been on one and don't think I ever will go on one, but I don't have a problem with someone else doing it.

I'd never pay for a high fence hunt, and I'm not going to recognize someone killing an animal in a high fence as an accomplishment.
Yes, that includes that >5,000 acre ranches as well.

agree all hunters need to stand together though.

There are many hunters that I don't want anything to do with. I'm not standing together with them.

If I had the cash I would go on a few high fence hunts a year but I would also hunt free range. Bragging rights may not be the same but the experience would still be a blast. I don't care who you are; pulling the trigger on a world class animal will get your heart pumping high fence or not.

Doesn't matter to me but kind of like Salmon said I know of some hunters that I do not want to stand with.

Salmon
Have you ever fished in a stocked farm pond or a lake that WLF agents stock with Hybird Bass.
If the answer is yes then whats the difference from fishing to hunting!

It really depends on your situation. For what we spent a year on our old company camp, we could have done three or four high fence hunts a year. Downside is you wouldn't be able to spend weekends at the camp with friends and family. For a well off person without the need or want to maintain a camp and entertain; high fence hunts make since. Go on one or two a year, see different parts of the country etc. High fence has its advantages and place for certain people.

Can you hunt bears like that? 'Cause that would be the only way to make bear hunting more douchey.
But seriously, who cares how someone kills a deer? If you want to shoot one chained to a stake, knock yourself out.

I don't think those are really comparable.
I really don't care if you want to go pay $10k to shoot a buck, I just wouldn't do it.
I'm a snob hunter though. I think hunting in a box stand over a feeder is kinda pathetic as well.

Let me rephrase that then:

All legal hunters need to stand together to protect our rights.

I do this every year multiple times. There is more to hunting than just the kill. Having a high fenced place takes a lot more management and work to not screw up your herd. You have to be able to make the quick decision on rather the animal is old enough big enough or make sure they aren't to big! When ever I have my own place one day if I have enough jack I'm going to get my brother to put up the fence.

I agree, if you are hunting legally and not breaking any laws in the state you are in, then do whatever you want to do.
Hunt a high fence, free range, over a feeder, over a planted field.
I don't hunt high fence but I will say a ranch manager that is managing a 5000 acre high fence is putting in some serious work to keep the herd healthy and growing.

I agree with you here.

The difference is a fish is confined to whatever lake or pond it is in anyway, regardless of any outside circumstances. This really isn't comparable to high fence hunting.
