Mel Kiper's Response on Mike and Mike

In light of the allegations by the S.I. Confessions of an Agent article, Mike and Mike just had Mel Kiper on to discuss reports that he shills for players represented by certain agents and that he would call agents while he knew they were meeting with players.
The Mike and Mike interview was pathetic. It wasn't even an interview. It was ESPN allowing one of thier employees to basically ramble off several names and draft picks in the NFL that went higher or lower than what Mel had them ranked even though they were clients of the agent linked to the article. Mike and Mike did not ask one single question. Nothing was said about the set up phone calls that were discussed in the interview. Nothing was exchanged about the agent process. Mel was just rambling on like a mad man similiar to every comment he made after Jimmy Clausen wasn't picked over and over again this past April. It was a disgrace. If anyone else heard the segment I'd be interested in hearing what you thought.

most things on Mike and Mike are usually a disgrace

You think Mike and mike would do a hard hitting interview? Hell, they're nothing more than shills for ESPN.
And do you think ESPN will ever do anything to further embarrass their draft cash cow!

That's why I like Colin Cowherd. People hate the guy but shite he speaks his mind, asks questions, etc.

Never mind the fact that Willie Howard, the player who was specifically named for being in a meeting with agent Gary Wichard when a set up phone call from Kiper to Wichard took place, was CONFIRMED by Willie Howard himself. No mention of this at all. I never included myself in the "ESPN is worthless" or "ESPN hates LSU" classic cliches but for some reason this Kiper interview pisses me off.

agree, honestly think its the worst show ESPN radio offers. Hate how fox sports radio now has Steven smith opposite them from 7-8, has been back listening to music on the morning drive.

The entire show is simply one big ad for all other things ESPN. They can't go three minutes without some ESPN-related plug or cross-promotion mention.

If you want to say something, it's good to be the one who holds the microphone.

I didn't like this "interview" either. The fact that there were no questions asked, and Mel just rambled on made the "interwiew" pointless, IMO. Obviously, I don't expect M&M to grill Kiper and make him respond to the allegations, being that he's an ESPN employee and a good friend of M&M. But, why have him on the show if we're not going to get any further information on the subject? I guess their hidden agenda was to make Kiper look innocent. It's a shame, IMO, because I like M&M.

And if a lunatic douche speaks the lunatic douchey things on his mind, that doesn't make him interesting.

The only issue I have is this ex-agent talking about this one incident with Kiper.
Do we know that Kiper elevated this guy to #1 on his DL board because of Gary?
No.
..and if NFL teams are using Kiper's analysis to draft players and not researching through their own scouring departments, then they deserve to get whatever is coming to them.

Cowherd once again bashed Louisiana today FWIW.....hate that guy. He needs to spend some time down here before he continues to bash our state. (Was horrible after Katrina)

I doubt teams rely on Mel's Big Board to make their picks.

This!!! Kiper is there to entertain fans during the whole draft process. I doubt NFL teams even care what he says. They have their own scouts they dont need Kipers help

.. everything on ESPN is a "shill fest " for ESPN and their agents and representatives ... all shill , all the time ...

Once called Alabamians tornado bait. He cant get over the fact that Saban made him look like an arse clown when he laughed and said he wasnt leaving the dolphins. The Mike Leach/Craig James drama last year showed everyone how ESPN handles stories that make their favorites look bad. They really put the "entertainment" in the ESPN. There is now credible sports journalism there. They are arrogant enough to think that they are the news and whatever they report is the facts.

Their agenda was to draw in viewers/listeners by promoting that Kiper was coming on the show. As long as they have ears and eyes glues, they don't care what he says. He could've read the newspaper aloud for five minutes and they would be just as happy.
