What does being an LSU fan mean to you?

As someone who grew up 5 minutes from Tiger Stadium, LSU football has always been my favorite sports team - and the college football season, my favorite time of year. I am in no way blind to, or choosing to ignore our offensive struggles or QB issues or both - so I understand the frustration surrounding the team. However, the thing I don't understand is how this can cause fans to become so negative in their view of LSU football that they are willing to forgo watching, going to and staying at games, and supporting the program. If the only thing people are concerned with is a high-powered offense and being entertained, then the logo on the helmet doesn't mean anything. They can go and watch some other team do those things. I grew up watching LSU football - regardless of how shitty the team is, I enjoy watching them. It isn't the same as watching any other team. It is something about seeing the purple and gold and the logo on the helmets that makes it enjoyable, or at least worth my time to watch.
I understand this feeling isn't shared by everyone and that there are many people who cannot, and will not, stomach the current product on the field - to those people I would simply say you are missing out. To the faithful LSU fans... here is to being 4-0, and 5-0 after Tennessee

I have bled purple and gold since 1958. Sadly for me, lately being an LSU fan has been kind of painful and frustrating. But I do have a want for that experience to go back to the positive column. Waiting to see...

At some point it isnt weather you bleed purple and gold. Its like watching a team struggle on one side of the ball and could do better. Its knowing that some young players chose LSU because they loved the school or felt it was the best choice for taking the next step (NFL) and not even getting a shot at catching some passes to show the scouts what they can do.. thus ruining there chances. If the ones booing didnt love LSU they wouldnt care and would say something like we are 4 and 0 and doing just great ..... so if you love something you tend to get emotional about it...thus the booing

When I hear the chants of SEC this is what it is awl about! You guys are just an upstart and you still are trying to be like the Bamas, Tennessees, Floridas etc... I love it guys keep it up. Its amazing someone like Cincinati lost Brian kelly to ND and they folded. You guys lost a great won in Nick to a traditional power like alabama and yall still are acting like he's hear. I LOVE IT!

Don't worry about Tennessee friend. Its a special place not a few buildings on the Bayou that Midget Saban lit up for a few brief, but amazing years.
Look we'll be okay, we have traditions. Gen Neyland set us up for that and the winning traditions have carried on for coming up to a century. I think you and Cincinatti got a RAW deal so don't be mad at me! I wish you guys the best!

To me, it's truly a part of my life. I grew up here in BR, and was familiar with the LSU campus before I ever went to school there.
I cannot even fathom rooting for another over my beloved LSU Tigers, and feel blessed to be an LSU fan. It's more than just a game- it represents where I'm from & who I am.
It's Louisiana; it's home.

I started in 1959 at the Sugar Bowl and I was 12 and now I am 63 and I have been an LSU Fan the entire time. I was a Season Ticket holder for many, many years in the South Endzone. I do not live in the U.S. now but I am still an LSU Fan and will always be one!!! GEAUX TIGERS from Thailand!!!!

To me it's about good times......being different from all the other universities. Game day....the smell of all the different meals being cooked all over campus. The bright lights at night with national media attention. We are different in that Louisiana has ONE flagship school. I just love LSU. I knew this would happen though. MANY FANS ARE SPOILED TO LSU'S RECENT SUCCESS!!!!! there was a time when you were going crazy just simply winning a game who ever the opponent was. I miss those days. ALL YOU FAIR WEATHER FANS need to get a grip. This team is not struggling. We have a QB problem and Miles is limited and I'm sure he's managing the situation the best he can.
