Why does Sigma Phi Epsilon pride itself on being “different?”
SigEp prides itself on being different because that difference has helped us come to lead the fraternity world. SigEps refuse to be stereotyped as “frat boys,” nor its chapters as “animal houses.” Sigma Phi Epsilon is dedicated to the idea that a fraternity is much more than a social organization -- it is an institution of higher learning; one that centers around the ideals of allowing one to live his best life.
I've fought the urge to join in on the frat bashing, but I gotta say that at the last two universities I've gone to...Sig Eps were hands-down the stereotypical frat boy party house

After reading the FAQs on their website, I have come to the conclusion that it can't possibly be them. Are there other "Sig-eps" on campus?

Take a walk on Nicholson, rail road tracks side between Gouirrer (however you spell it) and Skip Bertman drive...it is horrible, about 3 years ago an entire flock of college students and recent grads took over the entire area and completely trash it every game day. Looks like mardi gras day down there. We had been there for about 12 years or so and got pushed back (which is fine) but the trash is not acceptable. They need to police those areas and get rid of the offenders. No reason to disrespect the campus like that. We have garbage cans that are put out by LSU and actually use them. Those kids could give a shite less.
I agree, that stretch has become a walk of shame. The majority of those along the bike path are just there for the party.
They park on the path, get wasted, and to leave a huge mess for others to clean up.
I'd say that area rivals the parade ground for sloppyness. The LSU Police could write a few dozen tix there each game for underage drinkers and littering.
Have a nice day!

All frats are the same douches unless you're a TKE but they don't count as a frat at LSU.

I waswalking by a tailgate group on Highland Road, in the vicinity of the Honors College, and a girl, from all appearances an LSU student, was clearing off her table to pour more drinks by simply sweeping about a dozen empty and partly empty cups off onto the grass. There were 2 garbage cans within 10 feet of her. I didn't say anything because, well, I'm an old fart. But this type of thoughtlessness seems to be pretty pervasive.

It's OK if I trash campus because my dad pays for the clean up crew. You're Welcome

Could Chicken send a copy of this Post to the administration or Campus police. There is so much good information on it with good suggestions. I am all for permits and fines for people who trash the university.

Darn nasty liberals...wait this isn't the polly board. Sorry

You know how easy it is to have a garbage bag at your tailgate? If everyone would stop saying "well they need to put out more garbage cans" and just think this isnt hard. Put it in a bag, even if you dont have a can. Its much easier to pick up a damn garbage bag of trash than it is each piece of trash. We ALWAYS bag our trash.

As a member of greek life during my LSU years, I am sad to see and read about these posts. I talked to recent graduate and she confirmed that this part of the parade ground is home for a string of frat tailgates.
In my day, we partied at the fraternity houses pre- and post-game. Pledges cleaned up on Sunday morning. I think there was a deadline for clean up imposed by someone related to the university.
It is my understanding that the rules against under 21 drinking have caused the frats to leave their houses for tailgating. If there was no underage drinking going on, there would be no reason to leave the house.
If you ask me, this kind of abuse can be dealt with only one way.

If those pledges can't get that stuff properly cleaned up by the time the old folks (read big-time donors) start making their way to church, then fine 'em or revoke their ability to get a permit.

I ate those pork and beans shortly after that picture was taking, so I did my part.

Who will do this?
It would best if someone here had a point of contact person at LSUPD. That way they could call first, rather than sending a generic link to the dispatch email.
The Tennesse game will be an easy one to catch violaters at. Find the trashiest messes while everyone's in the stadium and post a few officers there to have a heart to heart when the revelers return for the post game party.

i in no way find this acceptable, but i think some of the posters on this topic are way off based. The trash can not be blamed on a certain fraternity, because if you actually tailgate on the parade grounds you would know that's not one specific fraternities mess.
Frats tailgate out their now because of LSU not allowing them to have parties anymore at their houses that involve alcohol unless they are buying the alcohol form LSU (kinda messed up, huh?)
and there are plenty of non fraternity related people some even, over that "magical mature" age of thirty that trash their tailgates.
and to the people arguing that we should fix this by handing out MIPs left and right, you are dumb. because the drinking age most likely when you were at LSU was 18 so dont tell me you dont understand kids 18-20 drinking.
and to wrap it up, go check out the parade grounds at 12 sunday its spotless again
quit your nagging, and go back to your job instead of complaining here on TD

I was going to blame the West Virginia fans, but the couches aren't on fire...so damn
Posted on 9/27/10 at 3:01 pm to LSUMafia
every tailgator needs to be registered as to location and if they leave it like that they should be fined and not having tics or passes renewed until the fine is paid. by the way they ran out of yellow cans for some reason. but trash bags are on our list of tailgate items just like beer is. just as important

Yeah...just don't try to go barefoot out there - unless you want a heel full of glass.

Why do you care if people here want to instill a little pride and improve the situation?
Are you in a frat or other social group that tailgates at the parade grounds?
If so, bring a box of heftys and hand them out to your friends before you head into the game. Believe it or not, many groups do this.
If you're not willing to do that, then you should be fined. End of story.

I have cousins that were there tailgating and said the area that had the couches and that is trashed so bad was indeed the frat boys and other kids. What a bunch of dumbasses. I hope school officials find out who it was and make them clean the shite up plus have them clean up the stadium and grounds for the rest of the year. Give their asses some dirty work since they choose to be pigs.

Look at all that money that was spent on such items to go tailgating. Just shows that LSU games are really a staple of Baton Rouge's economy in the fall.
