YUCK! The taste of losing sucks!

All LSU fans, here's my take of the game: WVU played a team that was much better than they were.
I am a believer in your defense. Although, I do think a few teams will pick up some scores on you because we probably had the worst offensive line you'll face this year. That's the truth.
Although you fail to see it, I'm actually a believer in your offense. I just feel like they're still trying to figure their identity out. You guys endlessly complain about your QB and offense, sorry... I don't get it. Sure, you're not putting up crazy numbers, but that is one determined group of young men you have. The eyes of your QB are very strong and competitive. And eventhough he threw some bad passes, he wasn't afraid to keep slinging the ball around. Dude wants to WIN and win BIG! Your running backs are the real deal. Ridley runs downhill hard - actually great to watch as long as it's not against your team ;)
In a nutshell, LSU was simply more talented, better prepared, and outcoached WVU. It really is that simple. And as much as I'm proud of them for not giving up, the score could have been much worse in LSU's favor. Sometimes, you can keep fighting as much as you want, but if you're playing a team that is simply better, what can do you do?
I know there's a lot of people who do not like Miles. I don't get it. Get off the guy. I mean... at least wait for him to start losing before you jump down his throat. In your mind, you won "ugly", but come on! Do you know how many other teams in college football would die to be in your position? Give Miles a fighting chance! He's WINNING. Do you have any idea how much of a mess it can be bringing in a new coach with a new system? Trust me, you'll lose a few games and then start questioning the hiring decision. It never ends. But at this point, give Miles a chance!
Booing. Sorry fellas... that looked really bad on TV. If I was a potential recruit, I think I would be considering other teams. I mean, I'm not sure if you're booing your QB, head coach, offensive coordinator, or whoever... but the point is... it "looks" like you're booing your own team. I know you guys are the most passionate fans in the country, so it's somewhat understandable... but come on... you've gotta cut that crap out!
So please... you won. You can always talk about room for improvement, but your QB is a fighter, and your coach has a burning desire to win. Why don't you get behind them and be supportive!
BTW, that's only for those who are giving them a hard time... not for those who are not.
Overall... it's been a great week on the Rant. Wish WVU would have made it more exciting for ya, but there's no doubt the better team won. Hope next year the WVU fans can return the great treatment your fans gave. For the rest of the year, you'll have one Mountaineer pulling for ya to go the distance! And as crazy as some of you may think that sounds, your defense will make sure you have a chance to win every game!
Adios!

quote:Hey, I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but at the end of the day, there's only two options: you either win or lose. The teams that win, ugly or not, move on and do great things. This world is full of NFL teams that "almost lost" playoff games and Super Bowls. Full of college programs that "almost lost" national championship games. And the list goes on and on.... but what's common theme? Although they "almost lost" - they DIDN'T! And that's why they are CHAMPIONS today!
Almost losing will not be tolerated!

Thanks, man. The WV folks on here have been a lot of fun, and I hope many of you stick around.
I agree about the boo-ing. I don't see what it accomplishes other than make players feel like their fans are against them. As for Miles, it might be difficult to see from an outsider's perspective, but our talent is carrying our lack of coaching. Keep watching and you'll come to the same conclusion.

stick around. No need to leave just because we aren't playing anymore.

Uhhhhh..."crazy numbers??"
I'd settle for mediocre. 10/22, for 75 yds (avg comp 3.4 yds) and 2 picks is not "just short of being crazy"
ITS frickING TERRIBLE.

Well, from an outsider's perspective. You beat WVU on more than just raw talent. I mean, your guys didn't just walk out there and "wing it". Someone is responsible for the game planning and preparation that stopped WVU. That would be your coaching staff. And another perspective - you haven't lost yet.

Thank you for your assessment.
If you check this board more often you would think that we had high school level offense with a high school QB.
Ridley IMO is clearly the main feature of this offense. We finally have a RB that we can truly lean on. If we can get consistent production from him we can sustain some drives and score. Hopefully JJ can improve though.

Good post. I don't think many fans realize how bad it could get if we just hire a brand new coaching staff...regardless of who we bring in, it will set us back and the fall will be swift.
It's a catch 22 situation really. Miles can make it so much easier on himself if he comes out and says he is going to give Jarrett Lee a chance to establish some rhythm with the offense. I agree that Lee deserves a chance, if only for consistently out-performing JJ in practice. But unfortunately, Miles has already come out swinging on the misguided notion that he is protecting JJ from the boos when in fact he is hurting him by keeping him as the starter.
It is going to be an interesting week ahead, but I fully expect Miles to keep JJ as the starter.

Hang around, come back and brag about your victories. I'm sure there will be some. Then engage in some friendly off season smack to get ready for our invasion.

Got it. But my point is - the perception of non-LSU fans watching the game... it almost seemed like you were booing your own team. It's pretty crappy. You really need to stop.

Uhhh...what about Crowton and the playcalling?
