How y'all doin?
I'm not here to talk smack, for the same reason I wouldn't stop my car and talk smack to a bunch of Hell's Angels. It'll get yer arse whooped.
That being said, it appears that many of you have some misconceptions about our football team.
Yes, playing in the Red Stick on Saturday night is a daunting task. And although I was covered in blue and gold blood when I came out of my mommy's womb, I've been somewhat a fan of LSU since I was a small kid (See my screen name). One of my oldest memories of college football, was Billy Cannon's punt return against Ole Miss in '59, to win the game. I have nothing but respect for LSU and their long tradition of excellence.
Now, to some of the misconceptions. I've read that WVU only has one player who could start for y'all. I also read where our whole team is garbage. Well, I just don't think that's true. On all the pre-season watch lists for individual awards, we seem to be just as well represented as the Tigers. On the Bronco Nagurski watch list, you have a linebacker, and a cornerback, we have a linebacker and a safety. On the Lombardi award list, you have one player, we have two. Doak Walker award, one each. Walter Camp award, one each. Jim Thorpe award, one Tiger, two Mountaineers. Lou Groza award, one each. I think you get my drift.
Some of you also seem to think that Geno Smith is a running QB, who throws occasionally. In fact, he is a pure pro style QB, who is a good enough runner to pick up a few yards here and there. He was a Parade All-American coming out of high school, in FL, where we get a lot of our players.
We also don't run the spread offense, as we did under DickFraud, and are quite a bit more versatile. Could have used some of that against Pitt in '07, but that moron wasn't smart enough.
The heat will wear us down. Perhaps so. But it's been over 90 degrees for over half the month here, with our usual humidity levels of 60-70%. It shouldn't be a factor. (Now, the huge home field advantage you enjoy, will be)
Noel Devine would be average in SEC. Really? He's the number one active rusher in the NCAA, with over 3600 yards. He is very strong for a little guy, and he is the real deal. I suspect he'd be better than average in the SEC. After all, his offensive mates would be SEC caliber too, right?
The 3-3-5 defense is weak against the run. We've been pretty good against the run, for several years. Rush D allowed 131 a game in 2008, and 121 in 2009. So far this year, we're 8th in the nation, giving up 62 a game.
We haven't played anyone.Very true. However, a depleted UNC, MSU and Vandy ain't NFL either. Edge to y'all.
Now, all that being said, am I predicting a WVU win? Nah. But I'm not predicting a loss, either. I think it's going to be a very competitive game, and the team that makes the least mistakes will win. I'm hoping that would be WVU. If we turn it over a bunch of times, it'll be ugly. The crowd could bother us a bit. All one can do about that, is play well and try to lower the noise level a bit. I think our speed and physicality are a bit better than some of you give us credit for.
The money in Vegas appears to be going on LSU, as the line opened at 6.5, and is now 8.5. Some of you that are counting on a big blowout, should go get some of that easy money.
Here's to a good clean game, with no injuries on either side, and may the best team win. Good luck to y'all.

60-70% humidity is for wimps! We get 90-100% all summer.

Yeah, it's almost like Death Valley (CA) here.

Haha I was thinking the same thing when I read the post, although 60-70% humidity is a break for us...

Fair post, and unlike almost everyone else on here, I will tell you "good luck, and ditto on the may the best team win"
you coming down for the game?
in all fairness there really is a big difference between 90 degree 70% humidity and 90 degrees 85-90% humidity. drink plenty of water with your whiskey while here if you come.

Your QB is indeed a very good player, don't let what you read here fool you LSU fans in general know this will not be cake walk. I do think we will be able to run against you however, if JJ can throw the damn ball effectively you guys will be in trouble. That's a big if.

just remember, pace yourself with your adult hydration therapy. The heat here on Saturday will bust your arse.

bullshite. A little trip over to the weather almanac site tells me it's been in the 50-70 range all month with an average humidity around 40%. You frickers have no idea.

So you're predicting the never-ending game?
Nope. I'm pretty sure it will end.

those posters that you are refering to represent a large portion of the idiots on this board who are ignorant about you're football team (and most others, including ours) and just want to talk shite. most are probably under the age of 20 as well, so take it with a grain of salt. The intelligent ones know your team is good and that almost losing to Marshall probably woke them up if anything.
oh, and

35-10 LSU. I saw your game against Marshall...speed kills.

Hey Bandit Slayer:
I can't wait for this game and I plan to make it up to W. Va. for the game there. These good OOC matchups are one of my favorite things about college football. I expect an excellent game and hope my Tigers can come out on top!
