Time to take Jefferson's training wheels off and let him play like a big boy

Which plays did he check down to quickly? I have the game recorded. I would love to go back and watch those plays.

I'd love to see this happen. Just tell him to go out there an sling it. He might respond well.

I'd like to see more Offensive plays results in Touchdowns..Is that too much to wish for?

So you're using stats that ignore Jefferson's two best plays? That's an interesting methodology
my point is it is a re-occuring theme that Jefferson only throws short passes. through 3 games he has 4 completions over 20 yards.
quote:
Funny thing. Football games are not played by averages. Jefferson had to put together some real drives, and he had to make some first downs for each of the drives but one.
only 2 out of 9 drives did he produce more than 1 First down.

Oh, which plays were those. I have the game recorded. I would love to go back and watch those plays.

Checking down is what a QB is supposed to do. Which plays did he check down to quickly? I have the game recorded. I would love to go back and watch those plays.
i understand checking down is what QBs are supposed to do, but not on every pass play. go back and watch the game since you have it recorded and you'll see, that he checked down on about 7 of his 10 completions.

You're not very good with facts, are you? Vandy and State are the two worst teams will face? What is Ole Miss, bearing in mind that Ole Miss lost to Jacksonville State and Vandy by two touchdowns.
well LSU won't have the luxury of playing them for another 8 weeks.

That's your opinion. We'll see. We'll see.
we sure will. we'll also see the continued digression of the LSU offense

this is kind of interesting to watch the post on the rant. no one can understand the playcalling. I think if you understand were miles comes from you understand the play calling. Miles played and coached under the once great Bo S. where you pound the ball and pass once in a blue moon. So if you can understand the 1970's and 1980's big ten style offense you can Figure out miles is offense.

I just dont know how we can play with Florida,Auburn,Ark and Alabama only being able to pass for 99 yards a game? Hell im not a coach, but anyone who is,especially a Defensive coach knows they can play Man to man coverage and Rush the hell out the Tigers. Man I just dont know how were gonna do when we finally play a good defense. Our defense is great, but in the forth quarter against the teams ive mention, they will be so tired if our offense can't get going.

Miles wants to prove that the Big Ten offense of the 70's and 80's is still relevant in 2010. So the three straight runs on first on goal and end in a field goal. classic beg ten football of yester year. So until miles learns to let's that offense go back to the pass where it belongs. We will continue to see lackluster offense performances until Miles is gone.

But half of our passes fall incomplete or are for loss thus killing drives
Just because we throw more doesn't mean we will complete more. Yes I would like to see more than 16 passes thrown in a game, but doesn't mean we have a qb that can get the ball there or that we have a reciever who won't drop it.

quote:Uhhhh . . . You say that "Jefferson only throws short passes" but then you say he has 4 completions over 20 yards. So, really, Jefferson doesn't only throw short passes. And of course, my point was that if you ignore Jefferson's passes over 20 yards, you're gonna think he only throws passes shorter than 20 yards. It's kind of axiomatic.
my point is it is a re-occuring theme that Jefferson only throws short passes. through 3 games he has 4 completions over 20 yards.

Your grasp of the facts is painfully deficient, again. Jefferson did not even have nine drives.
In the drives he did have, Jefferson picked up crucial first downs on several of those drives.
Moreover, on several of the drives that Jefferson had, he could not have picked up more than 1 first down before LSU crossed the goal line.
quote:Oh, we're going to play this game. I ask which plays, and you say go watch the tape. Hey, you say he did it, why don't you tell me which plays he did it on.

What is JJ's pass completion percentage? I would venture to say around 50%. How many times did he pass in front of the first down marker thus killing drives? More than we need. You sir need to back up your wrong comments.

Jordan Jefferson was 182 of 296 for 61.5% in 2009.

Oh I was off a few percentage points and now I'm demonstratively wrong. Whatever.
Once again factor in the short passes that don't convert first downs and now you have stalled drives directly related to qb play.
Notice the dropoff this year.

But don't worry, I'll be here to correct your inaccuracies.
And remember that JJ's legs made the difference in getting some 3rd down conversions that LSU needed.

And to watch him through the progressions...there were no progressions.
While that has been the case most of JJ's career, saturday night against MSU I actually say him go to his third receiver one time. Checking down like that is difficult and to see him do it even once is at least a start!
