i love watching the jackasses who dont back up their trailer enough and think they can crank the boat allllll the way to the front and end up popping their crank. ..i used to yell at them and warn them but now i just sit, watch, and chuckle.

Once lived within a stones throw of a boat launch. I was home one morning, in the middle of the week, on the dock, and noticed an aluminum boat ½ full of water floating down the river. I grabbed the boat and tied it to the dock and walked over to the boat launch.

There was a man soaking wet on the ramp that has no idea how he got there. There was no truck and no trailer. It was winter and in the 40’s outside.

Apparently what happened was the man had borrowed his friend’s new truck to launch his boat. As he was putting the boat in the water he noticed that it was still tied down (I don’t remember if it was the bow or the stern.) He got out of the truck to untie the boat, but did not put the truck in park or apply the parking break. The truck door hit him and knocked him down. The bumper got caught on his clothes and drug him into the water, somehow he got free…

It took divers over an hour to find the truck.

I was with my cousin a few years ago and we were young (prolly 18). He was backing the boat in in his Ford Ranger. He had the door open and was looking out the door. He hit a pole and his door bent all the way back to his front fender.

I have launched boats without plugs, and also tried to back them off a trailer with the straps still attached Also watched a woman almost lose a 3/4ton chevy at a launch. Tires hit the slick stuff and she went into the launch till the bumper touched. Luckily the truck fishtailed off the concrete and the tires caught some traction on some rubble. This is probably the biggest reason I own a 4x4.

Me and friend were in Madisonville when a rich dude and his new boat pulled into the launch. He had two guys with him from the place he had just bought the boat from. The rich guy was in the boat and one of the another guys was directing the other guy backing down the boat into the water. We were sitting on the dock watching and when the boat was in the water you could tell the back end was starting to drop. The rich guy looks at us and says "I don't know shite about boats but I think I'm sinking." They had forgot to put the plug in. Well the guy that was directing down comes running and jumps in the boat and guns it to put it back on the trailer but the guy in the truck had already started to pull out. Needless to say that boat went right onto the concrete.

Went to Spring Bayou to pre-fish. Water had dropped a lot. Part of the dock had been under water.

In my excitement to get in the boat, I was moving a little fast as I got to he level that had been under water. It was slick as owl shite after a light mist. My feet at one point were just as high as my arse. I hit the deck and felt electric shocks run up and down my body. Only about 27 witnesses.

Took family out to ski one day. Wife didn't grow up around boats, etc. I backed my boat up to where trailer was just in water, told her to get in and back up till I waved and go park.

She got all that, did great but goes to park. There's ONLY ONE other vehicle/trailer parked in big lot. She chooses to park next to that one and turns too short. Bends fender on my trailer but luckily no damage to other vehicle. I did tell the guy what happened though and had him look at his vehicle to make sure.

Watched two black guys back their boat into the water and their 65 mercury fell off in the water. I told them it was for the best because it would have probally left them stranded anyway . If ya want a laugh the landing is a good place

back in the early 70's my friend down the street got permission to take his boat out for the first time. we hitched behind the half cab bronco and headed to black bayou to set out yo-yo's. tis was in january and it was cold as hell.

he backed the boat down and we pushed it off. we had tied the boat to the small dock. he pulled up, parked and we unloaded a few more things to put in the boat. we turned around and the only thing sticking out of the water was the trolling motor.

two older guys comforted him and got the boat up and back on the trailer. he was scared shitless to tell his dad but he did and his dad laughed and said "I bet you remember to put the plug in now" those were good times.
