Would it be cool if we started to speculate which players he could be talking about? Or atleast what "type" of players he could be talking about? It'd give us something to do besides just sit, wait, and worry.

He threw West's name out there so obviously it's something they're considering. How do you trade West without a huge drop off in offense while getting a defensive big upgrade as well? This is one of the trickiest moves and the best I can come up with is

West for Carl Landry and Jason Thompson.

I'm kind of reluctant to trade West unless it's for a star. Probably selfish of me, but I think he's too valuable and at a good contract. I just think he's our only offensive weapon that's not a guard right now.

i dont like to speculate like this but lebron left cleveland because the front office didnt get the players lebron wanted...they traded and got good players but not who lebron wanted and we see what happened with that

should the front office try to get melo so something like this doesnt happen or is this situation in nola different here than it was in cleveland?

Also, don't be surprised if something positive happens on the ownership front by October.

All I know is Paul is happy so far. And they talk to him about moves they make.

Any chance we get Belinelli heads on a stick this season?

I don't think Ariza and Belinelli are enough to win and make CP3 happy...

CP3 wants to play with Melo. If we get Melo, CP3 isn't going anywhere.

I know it probably won't happen, but that would be what it takes to keep CP3.

If we don't get Melo, and he ends up going to the Knicks... guess where CP3 is going when his contract is up...

The Knicks wouldn't have enough cap space to sign both Melo and CP3 to max deals under current rules let alone the newer supposedly more restrictive rules. Also, Amare, perhaps aware of this limitation or maybe just not a fan of CP3, has already started to recruit Tony Parker who is reportedly interested in joining Amare in NY.

VOR, in your own opinion based on what was told to you, who do you think would be a couple names you think the hornets would attempt to trade for? Or better yet who do you think fits that mold of big man that can score not only on layups or dunks? Only name that I keep thinking of would be Josh Smith. provided they are looking at PF

I've been going over it but I'm honestly not sure given who's available, and my guy didn't name anyone. I hesitate to name anyone specific right now because it would be just a guess and I don't want to catch shite from some of the hard cases around here.

I specifically asked about the possibility of Biedrins and didn't get much of a reply. Take that for what it's worth.

As far as I'm concerned, the most interesting and encouraging info I've gotten is that we haven't seen the final roster yet. And they're working the phones everyday. Oh, another thing that was mentioned, and a reason they probably won't trade MT5, is that they don't want anymore seasons where the team is only 5 or 6 deep. They want to be able to go down to 8 or 9 guys and have real quality and not just adequate subsitutions. And, really, that may be the direction they're going rather than adding another "superstar".

I'll nut up and maybe go out to lunch with the guy if he's available this week. By the way, he did know about the Ariza deal well before it was announced.

No small, immediate signings to fill the void for a backup big on the radar?
