Not much has been said about UNC strength, their ranking and how we compare on the field.

What say you?

UNC 24
LSU 14

ETA: This assumes all of UNC's starters are allowed to play in light of the NCAA investigation.

Try posting a serious prediction next time. UNC wouldn't score 24 on LSU's backup defense.

LSU 17
UNC 7

This is something I've done recently and its been extremely accurate.
Each unit broken down, graded, opposed, totaled. Keep in mind UNC's grades are WITH their non-amateur athletes.

North Carolina Defense 36 – 32 Louisiana State Offense

(UNC) DEFENSIVE LINE 9.5 – 7 OFFENSIVE LINE (LSU)
(UNC) LINEBACKERS 9.5 – 7.5 RUNNINGBACKS (LSU)
(UNC) SECONDARY 9 – 10 RECEIVERS (LSU)
(UNC) SPECIAL TEAMS 8
(LSU) QUARTERBACK 7.5

North Carolina Offense 27 – 33 Louisiana State Defense
(UNC) OFFENSIVE LINE 6.5 – 8 DEFENSIVE LINE (LSU)
(UNC) RUNNINGBACKS 7 – 7 LINEBACKERS (LSU)
(UNC) RECEIVERS 7 – 9 SECONDARY (LSU)
(UNC) QUARTERBACK 6.5
(LSU) SPECIAL TEAMS 9

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE (+1): NONE
COACH vs COACH W/L (+.5): NONE

TOTALS: UNC 63 – 65 LSU (This is not the predicted final point score, rather the grade on my scale- team with higher points wins outright)

Washington scored 23 against LSU's defense in last season's first game.

UNC is better this season than Washington was last season.

I think we got our work cut out for us with their defense and their big back. hopefully we can shut down their offense and get some turnovers, and provide some short field opportunities for the offense.

As a team? Yes. As an offense? Nope. That Washington team that scored 23 had Jake Locker. Look at UNC's roster and find a QB that even remotely resembles Locker. I don't disagree with your premise that this will be a tough game. Just do some research on UNC and then you'll see that 24 points is unattainable.

Maybe... but not their offense...

UNC is distracted by the NCAA investigation. LSU is focused.

LSU 24 UNC 10

i think this game will be very comparable to the virginia tech game in 07. i don't think it will be that big a blow out, but i think LSU will dominate. It will be very dominant, much like the LSU performances against Miami, FL, and the georgia tech beat down.

my prediciton: Tigers 31, Tar Heels 10

+1

He just got confused by focusing on the ranking and didn't even check out their offense.

A football team's defense can score touchdowns, too.

Good point. Maybe Jefferson gets hurt, Lee comes in, and UNC returns 3 ints for TD's. I'm sure that's what made you pick 24.

UNC wants this game badly. The stands will be stacked with UNC fans. UNC defense confident. UNC coaching staff has all summer to prepare an offense.

That said, we have Moffett back working "up" our muscles. We win.

Is UNC deserving of the pre-season ranking they received?

I agree they seem distracted, at least from the posts from their message board.

I just find it hard to believe they are ranked where they are.

I think they deserve it, but the team is very lopsided. Really tough D but not much offense.
